Waitlisted Students for Class of 2007

I was waitlisted.

I thought a thread could be made to help everyone on what to do from this point.

I certainly will be calling my regional representative and ask what I can do.

My first question is: do I send any extra information to Mr. Saracino, the assistant provost, or my regional representative?

I can no longer edit this thread.

The title should have been for 2011 :D.

I would just send it to admissions like you sent any information before, just look at the old addresses. Good luck!

Good luck Man I think waitlist must be torture, Send in anything new. Let them know you are still interested. You will continue to be in my prayers

Oh goodluck~the waitlist is tough, but I would not give up. My friend's daughter was waitlisted at another top university last year, and just kept at it...they lucked out and got in! So, it does happen! We will continue to pray for you~

I think your regional rep could be your biggest advocate at this time. If they didn't know you well before, make she they get to know you know. Maybe even let them know you'd like to make one more visit and sit down to talk with the rep.

I agree on getting to know your regional rep, they become that much more important at this phase...plus contacting them shows that you are interested.

I was also waitlisted :( , but it could be worse right?
To everyone else waitlisted this year: are you choosing to stay on the list or not? Good luck...it's gonna be a looooong wait.

It's already been a long wait. My daughter was deferred from Early Action then Wait Listed from Regular Decision. She'll reserve a spot at her second choice, but stay on the list.

Yeah, I applied EA and got deferred. During regular action, I was waitlisted. Waiting is the worse part of all of this college stuff, and it appears that I will have to make a decision on which college I am planning to attend before I hear back from Notre Dame. I plan to stay on the waitlist as long as it takes, only because Notre Dame is my #1 college choice and I can't see myself going to any other University. I have contacted my regional representative multiple times and I have also got in touch with the Admissions Provost. Is there anything else I can do that might increase my chances for admission? (except pray that people drop off the waitlist and those that got accepted choose not to attend)

I want to expand on the part about attending another college ^.

So we send a deposit to one college, right?

Then how do we get out of that college if Notre Dame decides to accept us?

As long as it wasn't a binding early decision college, then anyone can get out of a college, they just lose the deposit that is sent in by May 1st. Notre Dame figures if you want to go badly enough, you will be willing to forsake that $400 that you gave to another school. Same is true of most schools.

I had another thought. If ND is having a day in April for admitted students, maybe you could ask if you could attend, even if you're on the waitlist..it would show additional interest. They may or may not let you.
Aslo, I spoke with an adcom about waitlists a few months ago and they said alot of times they don't rank them because they try and admit people off waitlists who have no financial need..which would stink.

Anyone know about financial aid if you get in off the waitlist?

From what I have heard, if you get in off the waitlist they treat you the same way in terms of financial aid as if you had been admitted regular decision.

anyone know where to go to find contact information for your regional representative

Here's the link:

I was deferred and also waitlisted. I am very depressed because ND was my dream.

You have to keep it alive.

iantheman, i know what you are feeling. im the same way...deferred and then waitlisted...notre dame is, and will always be, my dream university. i cant wait to the decisions in may or early june. hopefully i get in.
