To those waitlisted take heart two years ago my daughter was in the same situation as you. Accepted at Univ. of Penn.,BC and a bunch of safeties and waitlisted at ND. In the end they did not take anyone off the list. I think the wife and I took it worse then her. In the end it just made her desire to attend ND even greater. And now she is in the class of 09 after transfering last year.

In hindsight it was probably the best thing to happen as it taught her that just because you have great grades, top in the HS class, great references and the like there are always other influences that can change ones plans or affect the future.

Go back and review some of the things that Irish 68178 posted and he gives great advice for those that did'nt get the call the first time around. The key to transfering is to get super grades ( think 3.6 or better in classes that match ND, and a kick butt profile letter),and make them realize they made a bad decision on you the first time around.

Good luck and keep plugging away. It is worth the effort.

being on the waitlist sucks...does anyone know how many ppl are approx. on the waitlist?? i wish they had just rejected me so this whole college process would just END. this is torture.

There's an article in the Observer today about admissions. It says that they admitted 114 fewer students in regular/early admissions, and plan to use the waitlist to better manage enrollment. So it sounds like they expect to take at least some people of the waitlist. I hope it's some of you!

With 900+ being offered Wait List and 600+ expected to remain on the Wait List, the fact that they admitted 114 fewer students is indeed a GLIMMER of hope. Better make plans elsewhere.

And as far as yield is concerned, the Undergraduate Admissions committee is using the wait list more heavily this year than last by admitting 114 fewer students than it did initially with the Class of 2010. This way, the University hopes to avoid the overfill problem that happened last year and give some attention to students on the wait list.

"There are some really outstanding students on the waiting list who want to be a part of this place," Saracino said. "So we're hoping that we can open up some spots for them."

Good News! I can't afford to send our son to ND with the 1K ND scholarship they gave us...so we are withdrawing and making room for one of you. Our son was accepted at Cornell, Harvey Mudd, Cal Tech, USC...all those schools came up with 15-27k in scholarship...so ND is out. It was his first love and I really do not understand their financial aid office so off base compared to the other universities.
good luck to you all, it is a wonderful place to go even if I feel very very bitter right now

aberam--i'm truly sorry that ND is not cooperating with your family, that must be really frustrating. at least your son has some AMAZING options to choose from. everything happens for a reason...best of luck :)

Thanks page47. Exactly what my wife said. The good thing is that he will be 60minutes away and since he has asthma we can rest at night that if he runs into troubble he is close by. Don't cry for us....Mudd is a good school. I wish I had his options when I was his age..

and do we have any idea how many students they're looking to take this year? in previous years it seems like they have been decent about taking people, but i'm sooo nervous.

" The admissions office will inform students by mid-June of a final admission decision." from the ND web site. Enjoy the end of your senior year and remember what will be will be. You remain in my prayers
