Waitlisted Students

Is it just me or have a greater percentage of us been waitlisted/accepted then normal?

caltech usually waitlists ~550 kids. I doubt this number increased dramatically, if at all, this year.

Maybe CCers are getting better! Haha. And I’m waitlisted too.

I got waitlisted too. Well, the good news for us (if any) is that a lot of people reject the waitlist status and only about 350-400 end up accepting it, from which Caltech takes close to 40. That’s an 8-10% chance that we can still get in. :)

I don’t mean to be bursting bubbles or anything… but Caltech took no one from the waitlist last year. (I think. I might be wrong. Somebody TELL ME I’M WRONG! :P)

You may be right, they said in the Waitlist FAQs (at the end of the decision letter) that they take between 0 and 40(last 5 years stats). I think they rejected more candidates this year and waitlisted fewer, so they even take in a few off the waitlist this year.

Good luck to us all, right? I got waitlisted and Caltech is still very much my #1 choice. Of course I got accepted to other amazing colleges as well, but I feel this creepy ‘frisson’ with Caltech…it’s like Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother :p

@fireflies, you are correct. Caltech took 0 off the waitlist last year. This is because 264 students committed, and I believe the target is around 230-240

Well, let’s hope they take someone off the waitlist this year. Caltech is still first choice. :)

First for me too.
