I got an e-mail today from Bucknell which acknowledged my intent to stay on the waitlist. It got me interested to know more about anyone else in my predicament. So if you are still on Bucknell’s wailist, please share your experiences. Also if anyone has any information regarding no. of seats available etc. please do leave a post. To any Bucknell students or alumni, please leave behind your valuable advice.

Hi. I'm not waitlisted at Bucknell, but I am waitlisted at 4 other colleges and although now I have decided to attend Bucknell, when I was still interested in the other 4, this is what i did:

1) I sent them a VERY LONG e-mail about why exactly I wanted to attend that particular college - include stuff that you werent able to in your common app essay and supplement. This is quite useful because the fact that you are on the waitlist shows that your academic scores/GPA etc. are good enough for Bucknell, so by showing your interest and why you are a good fit with the university will really help. Also include how you are interested in the course you have chose as your intended major. Since you are an international student, dont hesitate to include how you would help spread diversity in the campus, academically and socially!

2) Send courier packages to them that could include essays/projects you did in your high school related to your intended major (if you chose management, send in business/economics courseworks or articles etc.)

3) If you have any improved grades over the last term, send them in to Bucknell or even any additional refernces from teachers.

I'm sure there must be people refusing Bucknell, and I heard they are trying to increase the number of international students, so you still have a pretty good chance!

Good luck

thanks for the advice classof2011.

Haven't posted on CC in a while. I had my final exams at school to deal with. Anyway, I haven't got a decision from Bucknell yet. Does anybody know what is going on at Bucknell's admissions office? When do they usually inform you about your fate if you are waitlisted?

once again my first post on CC after a long time. had my A-Level exams to worry about over the last month. got my rejection letter a week ago.

I was waitlisted two years ago. I did not make any special efforts and had pretty much given up on Bucknell when I got a call from admissions in mid-may that I had been accepted. I was not high on the waiting list (about 120ish) but they said they had gone through and picked people that had stood out instead of going in order. So even if your not top few on the list you definetly still have a chance. I love it here now and highly recommend it!
