Hey guys here’s a thread for those of us waitlisted at Syracuse !
I was waitlisted and honestly idk why
What where your stats and to what house where you waitlisted at? Im really feeling the same way tooo @doglover24
I got waitlisted today for Whitman. I’m actually pretty happy since I was expecting a rejection because I’ve gotten rejected from all other universities I applied to. Here are my stats.
SAT: 1680
ACT: 26 (Forgot to send it to Syracuse for some reason and I didn’t realize until just a couple of days ago so I guess it doesn’t really matter)
3.76 unweighted GPA
Colorguard captain, NHS officer, CSF lifetime member, Key Club secretary, tennis, varsity academic league
Currently enrolled in 5 AP classes (calc, lit, bio, econ, gov)
I have taken 9 AP and 8 honors classes in total.
June 1st is the day of my graduation so getting into Syracuse would be my graduation present
Wait listed today for school of arch
Did everyone get waitlisted until June 1, or a different date? This really makes it very difficult not only for making deposits on other schools, which in our case would be times two with twins, but also for students picking roommates in some cases. My daughter attended the IT school overnight in October at Syracuse and really enjoyed it. While there she met up with a girl from New Jersey who was going to be her potential roommate if they both got accepted. The other girl got accepted a couple of weeks ago and now my daughter is left hanging. Let’s hope that maybe we’ll hear sooner than June 1. I’ve never known of anyone who has had to wait this long before. End of April makes sense, but June 1st? Their decision of waitlisting us is going to cost us a lot of money that could have been used toward Syracuse, if admitted, because we now feel the need to visit and re-visit schools the twins were accepted to the next 3 weekends. Our hearts were set on Syracuse. Feeling down.
I sent you a msg. check your inbox.
It will all work out one way or another. Those who are waitlisted, if you could post your status when you find out, that would be helpful. Maybe we’ll get lucky and get notified sooner than later. Best wishes and success to everyone as we ride out this ride together. Have a great day everyone.
do you guys know if there’s anyway we’ll find out before june 1? it kinda sucks to put a deposit down and lose it if we get accepted off of the waitlist
Waitlisted for engineering… honestly what annoys me is that they waited till the last possible moment (an extra 3 weeks for some of us) just to say haha wait at least another 2 months! Think I’m going to just let Syracuse go so that I don’t waste my parents money on a deposit for nothing.

@Liudawg Maybe you typed it wrong, but Cuse isn’t in New York City. It’s actually about 5 hours from the city in upstate/central NY.
Sorry I meant New York in general!
I was also waitlisted; I applied for dual enrollment in The College of Arts and Sciences and S.I. Newhouse. Anyone know what to do about roommates if they do get admitted from the waitlist??

anybody know if people accepted from your HS that aren’t going affects your standing on the waitlist in anyway?? Bc I know almost everybody in the around two dozen accepted at my school aren’t going
My daughter was waitlisted for the Arch program back in 2012. Her stats were not extremely special but she was one of the top grads in a very small rural NY high school. She felt sooo bummed when she received her waitlist status as you all are. I told her to accept and be patient. I also told her to send a ‘Thank you’ letter addressed to the Associate Dean of Admissions person on the bottom of the official waitlist notice. She composed 4 paragraphs to include any new achievements not available during the initial school application. The final sentence was a statement of desire to attend SU as it was her most desired choice for further education and she would be honored to be selected from the waitlist.
She mailed it out express mail right around this time so it would arrive a few days before the 5/1 deadline which was a Wednesday. On Friday, May 3rd, around 6:00 pm in the evening, an SU student called and asked if she would still like to attend so she could have her status changed to accepted! Of course she answered “YESSSSS!!!”. She was ecstatic.
To this day we are not sure if that mailed letter tipped the scale or not but it was worth the effort. Those who pursue are most often rewarded. Now the financial aid was about a 3-4 week wait game that also had us chomping at the fingers because my income was very low after the economic downturn in 2008. It was still not a guarantee that she would be able to attend as her safety school had already confirmed a great FA package. Eventually, SU came through BIG!!!
My daughter is graduating this coming Fall semester ('16) and has had the most awesome experience at SU. Now get those letters in the mail (overnight) tomorrow to hopefully tip your scale.
