georgetown SFS

Last year figures may give some clue to a school's wait list policies, but with the * reported * high number of mega-apps (15-20 schools), are there any stats about this year's chances, or is it too soon?

Too Soon,
The colleges don't have the responses back from the accepted students that plan to attend.
The common response date deadline is May 1st. So the colleges will need some time to see what slots they have to fill after that.

Georgetown doesn't seem to have their common data sets posted. But their Office of Institutional Research can be found at http://www.georgetown.edu/opir/

Good Luck :)

Fall 2005:

1500 students offered a place on the Emory waiting list

800 accepted a place on the waitlist

25 were admitted from the waitlist

Are you sure 5000 people are usually waitlisted for BC? i could have sworn the letter said 1500...5000 that just seems impossible...could it be a typo?

Those are the figures for prior years (post 430: Classes entering Fall 2003 and 2004) that were reported in the US News College Listings. Boston College doesn't seem to post their Common Data Set Online.

BC very well may have reduced significantly this the number offered the wait list this year. (Class entering Sept 2006)

Or perhaps the letter refers to the number they expect to accept a place on the Wait List. (That was reported to be 2000 students each year for Fall of 2003 & 2004)

In any event the number reported being accepted from the wait list was 165 to 200, so they do make significant use of the wait list.

Good Luck

interested in georgetown? refer to this...

Has anyone been accepted from the 2006 Emory waitlist?

Waitlist

At approximately 4:30pm today, we did something we haven't done in 4 years: we notified 30 students by email that they have been admitted from the waitlist.

For Fall 1998 to 2000 they say they use a wait list - but they provide no data on how many applicants were on it , or how many, if any were admitted.

From the available data, it does not seem that they have made much use of their wait list in the past. You might want to contact Admissions and ask them if they intend to go to the wait list this year and what your chances are.
