Sorry if this is a noob question, but can you be towards the top or the bottom of a waitlist? Or do they just pick ones randomly from the waitlist pool to be admitted? And when do they start taking people from the waitlist?

That is so not true. If you simply look at the SAT scores of those accepted to UChicago and those accepted to the Ivies, you’ll immediately see a huge difference. UChicago practices Tufts Syndrome, which is why you see so many qualified applicants get waitlisted. They cannot accept those students because it will really damage their yield rate, hence possibly dropping out of the Top 10 Rankings. So to say that admission to UChicago is similar to that of HYP is simply preposterous.

What form was the waitlist response talking about? In the page where you select whether you want to be on the waitlist, it says that you should fill out the form. What form? The only thing on that page was to pick whether I wanted to be on the waitlist of not. Is that the form?

Does anyone know the percentage of applicants who were waitlisted? Further, is it true the general acceptance rate off of the waitlist is 5%?!

@icuie2

There is a big difference between Wash U and U Chicago.
U Chicago accepted many top students from my HS while Wash U waitlisted almost (or all) of them.
U Chicago admission is not as difficult as HYPSMC but they do not practice Tufts Syndrome.

Yes I am very curious about this as well. Do they just waitlist more people than they reject?

I can’t see any other explanation, as I was fully expecting a reject.

Seems there are barely any rejects in the results thread.

lol ok, no. second asinine/unfounded post you’ve made in this thread.
