Waitlisted Thread

Hey guys!
Got a possible early evaluation and now I got waitlisted. Wonder if I should give up or keep trying. Post your decisions here :)

Saw this page made by a fellow Wellesley waitlistee . :)

https://blogs.wellesley.edu/admission/laila/youve-been-waitlisted-now-what-a-tale-from-a-former-waitlistee/

My friend was waitlisted. 4.0 UW GPA, tons of community service to her church, she’s really bummed. And it’s awkward because I don’t know whether to tell her or not I was accepted. Especially because I have a 3.7 and she might think I did something to cheat.

yeah i mean i have like 2120, and 4.0 and amazing extra curriculars (got featured in magazines and did tons of gay activism). idk. this is weird.

Congratulations to the admits!! And best of luck to everyone else – you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be, Wellesley or not, even though right now life just seems rather unfair.

It’s important to know that Wellesley looks at every application holistically. Yes, grades are very very important but they aren’t everything. Wellesley accepts people – people who are smart, driven, involved in anything and everything, and want to make an impact. That may or may or not be you. Wellesley, like most schools, isn’t for everyone. And as hard as it might seem now, getting rejected by a school is really doing you a favor. Admissions committees see a lot of applications and they can tell rather quickly, IMO, if someone is a good fit or not. Yes, you might have the grades to cut it but you have to have the right fit too.

I am also in the same situation. Possible and then wait listed and not sure if I should give up.

Congrats to all who got it! It is a wonderful college :).

@wangy20 yeah same. probably will stay on the waitlist.

I sure will too Kendrick

At this point you have nothing to lose by staying on the waitlist. If you hear back positive results from somewhere that you wouldn’t turn down to go to Wellesley, then take yourself off the waitlist then. If you want to get opinions on your options feel free to post as well  good luck!

Looking hopefully at the waitlist. I’ve been looking at Wellesley since the beginning of junior year. Good luck all! :D

Mom of a formerly waitlisted at Wellesley student here - she will be graduating from Wellesley in May! She was very lucky, some years, depending on how many admitted students accept the admission offer, Wellesley has not gone to the waitlist, other years they have.

If you are still hoping to attend Wellesley, then make sure they know that. My D sent in information on additional honors that she received after her application was sent in, and let Wellesley know that it was still #1 on her list.

I also want you to know that she has done very well academically. I really do believe if you are waitlisted, it means they think you are capable of handling the work.

Make sure to pursue your other options and opportunities in the meantime. Whether or not Wellesley works out for you, if you were waitlisted, then you are a strong, amazing young woman and you can make a difference and create a better future for all of us with your accomplishments.

I received a possible early evaluation also. And now I’m waitlisted. I’m looking at other colleges, but I still feel as if I belong at Wellesley.
I don’t think its possible to express my interest in Wellesley any more than I already have. Now all that is left to do is finish the year off strong and update Wellesley with any new developments.

@brithechange Yeah, basically that’s what I’m doing. Probably going to GW on a presidential scholarship. Kept my name on the waitlist just in case! I already sent them a letter of interest so idk what’s left to do. Just keep showing interest if you can.

Kendrickgirl : yeah… I continue to tell my regional adcom at Wellesley that I still interested to go there. At the means time, I will take Pitzer college acceptance with Trustee community scholarship while waiting on Wellesley

Waitlisted! :frowning: When do we hear back from admissions?

the soonest we will find out is around the third week in May. They have to see how many commit to Wellesley to then decide how many they can take off the waitlist and then review those applications

Did anyone hear anything so far? I read in a past thread that they began to call around May 7th, so I don’t know if this eerie silence is a good sign or not.

I’ve been waitlisted as a transfer. That’s probably a kiss of death for any potential financial aid package…

so NO ONE has heard anything?
…what…

Still nothing. Are they accepting anyone off the waitlist this year?
