Waitlisted to Princeton?

The paper I recieved with my waitlist card said that nothing should be sent to the admissions office unless it is late breaking news, but I really want to send a letter reaffirming my interest and stating that Princeton is my first choice and if I were to be accepted, I’d 100% be going there. My school principal also wants to write a letter of recommendation for me, but the paper said no letters of recommendation were needed. What should I do?

You should make sure you respond to the card with a confirmation that your still interested. Princeton typically wait- lists from three hundred to four hundred students a year. You shouldn’t flood officers with recs seeing as your accomplishments and prior recs should already speak for you. If you are set on getting off the wait list, you can get a guidance counselor to call in order to see if he can get an accurate indication of where you stand. The counselor can stress to whom it may concern that Princeton is your top choice, and even though you were already accepted at (insert school here), you would pick Princeton if accepted. If you do not have any truly significant information to relay, it is better to leave things to chance or have the guidance counselor call.

I agree. Ask your guidance counselor to call and relay the information. The GC could also say that your principal would like to submit a letter, and would that be alright… As far as sending anything yourself: if they specifically told you not to send anything, you probably shouldn’t.
