Waitlisted to SDSU Nursing

I applied for nursing at SDSU and I wanted to know my chances of getting off the waitlist. My stats are below

SAT: 1350
GPA: 4.31

I got accepted to CSUF, CSUSM, CSULB. Waitlisted to UCI. Rejected to UCLA

Has anyone else been waitlisted for nursing at SDSU, and if so, what are your stats?

My friend’s daughter was accepted off the waitlist a few years ago! She had committed to another school, and heard, on Mother’s Day weekend, that SDSU had a spot for her. So, maybe commit to your next choice, grab housing, and eat your deposit if SDSU contacts you. Good luck! (your stats are something to be really proud of  )

You need to enroll at another school by May 1 so I would be leaning towards CSUF since that is a direct admit Nursing program. If you are admitted off the waitlist, then you can make that all important decision to continue with your original school or accept the waitlist acceptance. Your chances all depend upon how many students enroll by May 1 for SDSU Nursing and they do accept more students than spots that are available since not all accepted students will enroll but no guarantees. Best of luck.

@Gumbymom CSUF is full as of 24 hours after the announcements of admission were made. If she didn’t grab a spot and pay registration she is out there

@readthetealeaves: Thank you for the reminder. Yes hopefully @nursing2023 got a spot at CSUF and if not they will not have a direct admit unless they get off one of the waitlists.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to reserve my spot at CSUF in time. I’m deciding between CSUSM and CSULB but I’m not sure where to go. Do you have any thoughts on which school is better for nursing?

@nursing2023 I am sorry that you missed the CSUF response to admission. It was terribly fast being less than 24 hours from post to decide to paying. There is hope with the UCI and SDSU waitlists but you do need to go in another direction at least for now so I would do CSULB as it is more well known, bigger school, requirements are clearly spelled out and there are lots of happy nursing students (not scientific YRMV) but is impacted. CSUSM is very impacted. Downside for CSUSM is that Clinicals will be assigned any time of the day and night. Overall crime is a little higher in LB but having clinicals late at night or overnight might not be good for safety. For either school get with the advisors and make sure you will be one of the ones to move on to the nursing major junior year. Good luck and I hope you get in a direct program off the waitlist

When did you receive your acceptance letter to CSUSM nursing program? My daughter has called a few times and has been told that acceptance letters would not go out until July. ?? Are you a local San Diegan?

My daughter heard from CSUSM in March. She is local @camom65

@camom65 I was accepted to CSUSM in early March. I live in San Diego

So she was accepted in the CSUSM Nursing major? My confusion stems from just recently comprehending that CSUSM is not a Direct Admit nursing school. If a student is accepted into CSUSM as a Nursing major, what does that mean given that it’s not a Direct Admit school? Do they get their pre-reqs done as a Nursing major and then have to re-apply again to the Nursing program at CSUSM? Very confused.

My comments are directed to camom65 and nursing 2023. I was wondering what your acceptances said? Are they acceptances into CSUSM’s Nursing major? Whenever we call, they are saying that Nursing acceptances will not be put out until July 2019. So I’m obviously missing something here.

Meant to say my comment was for NorthCountymom and nursing 2023

Yes, for nursing at CSUSM @camom65

my daughter got off waitlist at SDSU last year on June 1st and was one of 5 students. Acceptance rate for nursing in 2018 was 3.2%
