So I applied to UCSC,UCR, and SDSU as the main colleges I want to go to. I got accepted to UCR and SDSU but UCSC waitlisted me and I was pretty dumbstruck by it. I have a 3.74 GPA(Weighted) and an SAT score of I believe a little over 1600 and I honestly didn’t think I would get waitlisted but I did. I think it was last year that all wait listed students were accepted while the year before that none were or something like that. Correct me if Im wrong with that. I went on Wikipedia for UCSC and the average admitted GPA for 2013 was like 3.68 so I didnt think think it would be that hard for me to get in but on the UCSC page for Freshman admissions it said the mean GPA was 3.88 for 2015. Thats insanity and Im not sure if I can totally believe that but I guess it is. Anyone else waitlisted? My major was English so I dont know if thatll play a role. If I get denied its UCR for me though which I will still be pretty excited to go to.

I’m also wait listed, I hadn’t heard anything about all the wait listed students getting admitted last year, but I hope you’re right. My major was Biology.

I was also wait listed. My GPA was a 3.92 (weighted) and my SAT was a 1720. I also have been in contact with the volleyball coach, who has sent in an appeal due to athletics, so I am hoping that works out because UCSC is my dream school!
The lacrosse coach did the exact same thing for me!!
How do they determine the waitlist order?
I don’t think there is any particular order. I think once everybody has sent in their SIR’s by May 1st they see if there is any available space and if so they review every application again for students that are waitlisted. Did my research though and last year absolutely no one got accepted off the waitlist and hardly any got in that appealed. It’s a bit disheartening but I heard this year they heavily relied on the waitlist and many students with amazing stats. still got waitlisted (At least from my school.) Hopefully UCSC used it more extensively than the other UC’s.
Sadly no one got in from the waitlist for UCSC this year guys:( I’m pretty sure you all received an email saying that. Best of luck to which ever college you chose.
