The wait still isn’t over, let’s suffer together on this new waitlisted thread!
What school (coe, lsa, kins, etc) did you guys apply to?
lsa
Applied CoE. Kinda expected this tho lmao
Waitlisted from CoE
After googling about their waitlist, only 2-3% get in off of it
is there a method to how they rank you or is it completely random
This was on their website:
"How do you decide which waitlist students you’ll admit?
Since we invited you to be on our waitlist, we strongly believe you have the capability to be successful in college and, if space were available, at the University of Michigan. Once we get a clear picture of how many admitted students fail to meet the enrollment deposit deadline, we’ll know how many waitlist students to whom we can offer admission. If we do have space, deciding who to admit is based on multiple, comprehensive reviews of each application, focusing on the quality of academic preparation in high school, grades, scores on the ACT With writing and/or SAT with Writing, personal characteristics and attributes, responses to the short answer and essay questions, and recommendations from high school teachers. For more information on how we review applications, please review our Evaluation Guidelines.

@cactus1 so it sounds like they do the admissions process again.
However, I’d have to imagine they have some kind of grouping system. I read somewhere that they offer more than 14,000 waitlist spots, and around 4,500 accept (not sure what recent year this was based on). So with that many applicants, they’d have to have a system besides rereading, I would assume.
@c011e9e Check the Common Data Set for University of Michigan 2015-16 entering class. It says that 14,960 were offered a spot on the waitlist and around 4,500 (I forget the exact number) accepted a spot. But only 90 were eventually admitted off of the waitlist. The Common Data Set for 2016-17 entering class hasn’t been published yet. I’d be interested to know what this years class waitlist statistics are.
Anyone waitlisted for nursing? And does anyone know of people coming off the waitlist for nursing?

Waitlisted LSA
Waitlisted Kines
She is going to deny the WL. She was also invited to the Academic Scholars program at MSU and she’s going to deny that today. Grand Valley it is!
How does the waitlist process work, do you have to let most school know if you are enrolling by May 1st?
@HopefulParent7 proceed as if you were rejected. Meaning that you need to put down your deposit at another school and do whatever steps you would to enroll elsewhere.
UMich will wait until after the May 1 deadline to see how many people actually enrolled and submitted their deposit on time.
Then you’ll find out definitively by the end of June. If you do get accepted then, you are able to submit your deposit at that point even if it is after the May 1 deadline due to the waitlist.
But please, plan as if you/your kid got rejected! It’s very slim chances we will get in off the waitlist, and so we need to put a deposit down elsewhere!
But if you pay deposit for another school, does it mean you accept that school and can’t change? If make deposit now, then receive the acceptance from UM later, can you still go to UM? Thanks.
@oscarmom1 yeah you can! You probably won’t get your deposit back (typically a couple hundred $), but yes, you could still go to mich
