I just found out today that I got waitlisted from Umiami with a 1380 SAT and 4.67 weighted GPA. Now I am extremely worried about my chances for UF especially because most students from my school applied. Please let me know what your opinions are Do you think I’ll also get rejected from UF?
I applied to UF with a 1380 SAT and 4.67 weighted GPA hoping to get a degree in Finance. I am worried that this major is too popular and that I won’t get admitted because of it. Is this true?
What is your UW Gpa? Have you recalculated your UF GPA? Are you in-state?
I am in-state with an UW gpa of 3.93. I’m not sure how to calculate my UF gpa
UF and UM have very different admissions processes, UM decision isn’t necessary a predictor of what UF will do.
Your grades and test scores are fine for UF. However, about 50% of admissions is based on non-academic factors, such as ECs, volunteering, work, etc. That makes it hard to chance anyone.
Good Luck!
Weighted SAT: 1380
Weighted GPA: 4.67
Unweighted GPA: 3.95
Major: Finance
The issue: Almost all of the 200 students in my grade applied to UF, the majority with very high sat scores and great ecs. I’m worried that I won’t get accepted because #1 there won’t be many spaces available for finance majors and #2 they will not be able to accept so many people from my school
From what I’ve read UF does not consider what major you put on your application in its decision. I’ve read different accounts, however, about number of students admitted from particular schools. I don’t know if there is a clear answer to that one.
Does anyone know the percent of in state & OOS students that are accepted?
Also, does anyone know how nursing admissions is handled?
@fall2018 The admission rate was 41.2% last year, with OOS and in-state having about the same rate (OOS was a percentage point or two higher, international students was lower).
Here’s the link on admissions to the nursing program. While at UF, you have to complete 60 credits, includes both UF admission requirements as well as College of Nursing pre-professional courses. It is a “limited access” program, so it’s competitive.

Wow that’s good to hear
Thank you
Higher OOS acceptance than my hm state of VA
@fall2018 at UVA, far more OOS students apply, than in-state. While at UF, far more in-state students apply than OOS.
At UVA (2017)
At UF (2017, last year)
Total number of applications: 33,153
Total number of FL apps: 22,981
Total number of OOS apps: 7,168
(the rest of the apps are international, unidentified(dreamers?) and military)
Overall Admit Rate: 41.2%
For in-state students, the admit rate to UF and UVA are fairly close (39% to 41.2%), but UVA has a far larger number of OOS applications, and that drives down the OOS acceptance rate (to 22%).
