Waitlisted Unite!!

So how many are going to take a seat on the waitlist? I am.

If not accepted off of the waiting list, will you apply as a transfer? I will continue to look into it. Being waitlisted gave me new hope for a transfer.

i feel like my chances will be better as a transfer applicant anyway, so, yeah, i am definitely going to look into transfer application.

I'm accepting a spot on the waitlist. For some reason I feel offended. I wouldn't apply as a transfer.

i guess it all depends on how happy i am at Williams or UVA, really. in a sense, i hope i won't be applying as a transfer applicant, because i'll be contented enough (though hopefully enjoying myself quite a bit) wherever i already am.

the question now is... where am i going?

i will accept.
i have been wl'd at my top 3 choices.. ***.
yes, i'm bitter.

I'll take a spot, but I don't see myself going even if I were to find out that I ended up getting in in June. I am lucky to be able to choose between Georgetown and Cornell.

Anyone know what percentage is taken off the waitlist? Are we talking somewhere ~ 1%?

I know it's probably bad to be cynical about the whole thing, but if you don't get in the first round, why would you transfer? The school's basically already told you that they can do better and take better students for their campus diversity, and I want to go to a school that actually tells me the first time that they think I'm good enough.

P.S. I'm a Seinfeld fan... maybe I've gotten the impression that you can be cynical about anything it New York... darn you, Jerry Seinfeld.

It changes per year. Some years less than 10, other years greater than 100. Depends on how many decide to go. So our best possible chance is probably 1/5. But more likely 1/10 (seems familiar).

woot, woot- go waitlisters :p

hehe, no ivy acceptances for me....welcome to UC Berkeley :)

i'm gonna stay on the waitlist (but only columbia's, not cornell's or dartmouth's).... it looks like it'll be duke or penn for now.

I'll stay, and my other options are Georgetown and a full ride to UMich.

My other options would be Amherst, Swarthmore, or Wellesley.

Which is why I have to rethink why I'd want to go to a school that waitlisted me.

I'll be on the waitlist for sure--I have a question though. That one page statement, do we send that with our acceptance of the waitlist spot or later and separately. In addition, after we send the letter, if we have new accomplishments/activities can we send them an update

I was wondering that too. When I sent my email to show that I wanted to be on the list, I asked where we send it to and a few other questions about the list, but no word yet. I hope to hear back in a few days, since it was the weekend. If not then I'll just send the letter (with more accomplishments/act with it), since I couldn't write a page on going there again.

im not staying on the waitlist.. i think im definately going to upenn for the huntsman program

I think that you can send the 1 page as late as the 1st of May, because they won't know if they will use the waitlist until then.

I got waitlisted with a 1200 SAT and 3.65 UW. I also got into Johns Hopkins as a mechanical engineer with a full ride and into CAL with ME TOo.

I'm staying on the list. HarvardHopeful - I, too, was waitlisted at three of my top choices as well, (and flatout rejected from my two other top choices).

So does Columbia typically release waitlist numbers, or are they secretive about it? How easy is it to transfer into Columbia?

Well somebody I know transferred last year witha 3.7 GPA from Drexel University
