Waitlisted-Updating?

Okay so I was waitlisted to Wharton, and I was planning on sending in some sort of a letter and possibly a few other awards. Should I e-mail my regional rep or just send the letter right to the office of undergrad. admissions. Also, I looked up my regional rep, and after it it says GSE '08. Does anyone know what that means? I want to make sure I e-mail the correct person and avoid looking like an idiot.

hey mathlover1990, I am a current freshman at Penn that was taken off the waiting list (in CAS) last spring. The best person to contact would be your regional rep, who will be making a case for you at the admission meetings. While on the waiting list, I made sure to send a letter/email to my admissions regional rep, detailing my continued strong interest in Penn. It helps to give specifics–however make sure to keep a balance in your letter. You have to convey a true interest in the school. If the rep can remember something poignant and compelling from contact with you, it will make it all the better. The bad part of the waiting list is that you probably will not hear until the end of May if they actually are starting to accept people off of the waiting list. However, this should not deter you from making all possible efforts in aiding your case. After all, you have made it this far after four years of hard work in high school. A little more work in the following weeks should be a cinch. As for the GSE thing, I am not sure. Perhaps, you can go about calling the admissions office and inquiring the name and contact information for your regional rep. Good luck with everything!

hey Chameli1, I want to get off the waitlist for CAS as well! I have already contacted my interviewer telling her its no doubt my first choice. I wanna ask her to write a letter for me but i dont know if I should just directly ask her that (not knowing if she thinks I truly deserve it). I am also planning to write to the regional rep and get two additional recs from teachers I know will write great ones for me. (my humanities rec for the common app probably wasn’t that strong).

did u just write to the regional rep only? is it necessary to send a letter to the admissions as well? and do u know that once they are looking at the waitlist, is it need-aware or need-blind?

Thanks

Question: If you never received an alumni interview and were waitlisted, would it be appropriate to request an interview with the admissions rep? My S is in this situation now… Last summer when we visited he did an informal interview with the alumni office (he’s a double legacy through both grandparents), but there was no regional alumni rep to cover him for an admissions interview.

I have two questions, one, how did you look up your regional reps contact info? Also, I have been having technical difficulties with the online response. I tried e-mailing them but didn’t really get much help. Should I call the admissions office, or is there a more specific number I should call?

Bump… Anyone out there w/ thoughts about requesting an interview??? We’re heading thru Philly on Tuesday.

i called and requested an interview because i never got one and was waitlisted and they said that they would not do any interviews but also that the interview doesn’t count for anything so not to worry. But if the interview doesnt count for anything then why do they do any interviews?
