Waitlisted- What now?

I can’t believe that I have been waitlisted. I was looking forward to this day so that I can no longer worry about this. Instead, I have to endure another two agonizing months and still not know where I will be going. Has anyone ever been waitlisted? Where? How did it turn out?

I have been waitlisted to Princeton and Columbia, and I am praying that I get into one of them. What can I do to boost my chances of getting in?

The main problem I see with being waitlisted is that I need to reserve a spot at my match school, where I was accepted. However, I have to pay $600 (nonrefundable) AND, if I do end up getting into Princeton or Columbia, I have no idea how I let my college know and if I am even allowed to just decide not to attend. What do I do?

You are allowed to turn down the school you chose if you are accepted off the wailist and another you prefer to attend. You will lose your deposit. What school is the match you were accepted into? Keep the stats in mind on the waitlisted thread and consider that odds are not in your favor for getting off the waitlist at such competetive schools. Worth a shot...but according to the stats he noted its a long one. Good luck.
