i heard that its possible to keep contacting the school and update information about yourself to show that you are still interested in attending amherst. i have some things that i need to let them know… should this be in the format of a letter? if yes, what should the letter look like…? i still want to go to amherst but have no idea how to do this. please help? thanks

Try reading this thread. It’s not about Amherst in particular, but just gives advice on how to handle being on a waitlist.

is it possible to still get financial aid once waitlisted and accepted or is this a rare case?

In response to aliyoungerr’s question, yes, it is possible to receive financial assistance after one is admitted off the waitlist.

The Amherst admissions director is quoted in this article, and mentions how important it is to express interest if you are on the waitlist. If you haven’t already done so you should send a letter of interest very soon - many of these schools will start going to their waitlists the first week of May.

I’ve heard it is easier to get off a waitlist if one does not need financial aid. Which puts me in a bad situation…
