Waitlisted - What's next

I was just waitlisted and applied as Undeclared - Engineering and Computing and a secondary of Computer Science. My stats are 3.3 UC GPA, 4 AP classes, 2180 on SAT, and a moderate amount of EC stuff. All my APs were either math or science. This year I’m taking AP Stats (A last semester), AP Comp Science (A), and AP English (B). I finished all my schools math classes last year and stats was the closest thing I could take. Also, I scored a 33 on my ACT and a 760 on the Math II SAT (was sick and didn’t do that great). I took both before the deadline but we only saw a place to put either the SAT or ACT and I don’t know why the SAT II wasn’t sent.

I was wondering if or when any of this should be sent to UCSC to maybe help me get past being waitlisted. I was also wondering what would help my case. Would trying to get my other test scores in help or hurt my chances if they did take them? I got into SJSU and Cal Poly Pomona (I need to visit over spring break) and wanted to know how good of a chance I have of actually getting in earlier so I can start making plans either way.

I’d work with the assumption that you’ve got less than 50/50 odds of getting in. More current test scores won’t sway them. (besides, your SAT and ACT are well above avg for the school) Do what they ask, make sure they know you are interested by ‘accepting’ their offer.

Then, as the name implies, you wait - possible until mid-May. While waiting, make other plans - secure a seat and housing at your fall back (I understand CP Pomona is taking deposits now).

Good luck.
