Waitlisted, where should I send additional recommendation?

Hi everyone! As the title says, I’ve been wait listed for the Harvard Class of 2019. I know that the odds are extremely slim, I’ve already committed to another college that I’d be ecstatic to attend, yadda yadda. But I’d like to give it my best shot anyway since I believe there’s important info missing on my original app.

One of my most important activities — starting my own freelance business — was not explained clearly at all. Since I did it outside of school, my teacher and counselor recs wouldn’t have mentioned it at all. And as an international student, I imagine it’s difficult for AOs to ascertain the legitimacy of my business. The activity that I’ve devoted hundreds of hours to over the last two years was thus reduced to a mere 2 lines on the Common App.

I wish to send one additional letter of rec from an advisor who knows me extremely well and has followed the progress of my business from day 1. To whom should I send this? The portal does not provide much info, and I haven’t been able to find my regional admissions officer. Would be very grateful for any advice.

Thank you!

I would call the Harvard Admissions Office and ask them this question. 617-495-1551.

If you don’t want to do that, you could always have your recommender mail a hardcopy to the admissions office and/or fax the admissions office the letter. Make sure they indicate in the letter your name and birthdate. (You can put this info in a header.) I was told to do this when I sent a rec letter for one of my own students but couldn’t use the Common App.
