I got a letter saturday that I've been waitlisted. I was really surprised because I was really confident I'd get accepted.
I mailed out my Waitlist postcard today with "Yes" checked off.

I was hoping maybe someone could help me figure out WHY I've been waitlisted.

EC: Held a job for over 2 years, plenty of volunteering, active leader/volunteer in my church, competitive bodybuilder, AP classes, 2 letters of rec.

When did you get all of your materials to the school so that your file was complete for assessment? Certain programs fill up quickly at state Us. They wouldn’t accept Einstein once the seats are all taken. The old adage that the three numbers that count in state school admissions are the test scores, class rank and date the complete application is received (with all information and attachments) often holds true.

A lot of kids applied early action to Binghamton. In addition, many of them got their apps in early even though they did not apply EA. I know that at my son’s school, the kids considering Binghamton were told to get those apps and attachments in ASAP. It is not to your advantage to be late in applying to state schools.

I was wondering if Binghamton offered guaranteed spring acceptances to people on the waitlist for the fall… i have seen other colleges do it, so does anyone know if binghamton does??? thanks

Rugmuncher -sorry you got waitlisted- but if you are In-state it would not be unexpected at our school- few kids from our school are admitted with a GPA lower than 90. OOS different story

WOW, kinda shocked. We have very similar stats but, your SATs are slightly better.
I’m an ORM though, over-represented-majority, white male.
Most of the kids in my school were rejected with very high GPAs(90-98%) but, SATs in the 1200 range.
I honestly didn’t believe my dad when he assured me I’d be accepted.
