So I got the letter back from Albany stating that I was unfortunately waitlisted :/. I recently e-mailed them saying that I signed up for the Wait List and also asked if they have a ranking system. They replied that they don't have a ranking system an "if" they get to the Wait List this year, they will choose at random. The "if" was greatly discouraging.

Does anyone know approximately how many students are waitlisted each year? And how many are taken off the wait list from that number? I asked that question as a part of the e-mail but they didn't respond to that...

I checked the common data set for the last 6 years to see if they reported any figures.
The nearest figures come from 06-07 academic year and only say that 926 people were placed on the wait list and 360 were offered admission from the wait list. For the 05-06 academic year it was 304 people were placed on the wait list and 119 were offered admission from the wait list. These figures aren’t much help really, so I’d suggest you try and call them…ask for insitutional research, for a better idea on wait list stats.

Send a letter to admissions and try and make your case, and ask them to reconsider.

Thank you so much! I e-mailed them and they said last year 40 people were taken off the waitlist. I then asked how many were waitlisted and they said they’re not allowed to reveal that info which I thought was odd…
