I’m waitlisted as well. How many years have UVA done the “confirm to be wait-listed” thing?

Wouldn’t have too much hope in the Waitlist. Over 4,000 students are offered a spot on it, and roughly 2,800 students accept a spot. About 180 from that go on to be admitted to UVA. You can accept your spot, but definitely plan on going to your other choice. Best of luck getting off the list.

4000! And they are going to go through all the applications again? How many do you think will end up saying yes when UVA calls and get’s them off the waitlist? I bet many people pressed wait-list for the sake of wait-list without actually committing? For me, I am certain that if they call, whatever school I have confirmed, I will drop that school and go to UVA.

From the 2011-12 Common Data Set:

Keep in mind admissions is dealing with eight distinct groups of students on wait lists: College of Arts and Sciences, In State/OOS; SEAS (Engineering), In State/OOS, Nursing, In State/OOS, Architecture, In State/OOS. After admitted students respond on May 1 they may have room for students off the wait list for OOS Architecture students and In State Nursing, for example. So there may or may not be movement in all groups. I hope this helps.

Thanks, that’s a 0.07% acceptance rate then.

^^^ actually 7%

Oh yea of course, what was I thinking… Just punching numbers into my phone…

I knew what you meant but I figured there might be some parent who didn’t ;-)

There are now nine different parts the list. VA and OOS for each of the four colleges and a small list of each side for Kinesiology.

The waiting list FAQs have numbers that go back a few years.
