I got in! Good luck to the rest of you. Does anyone know when we hear about financial aid?

Are they still calling people this late?

I just got in off the wait list today around noon, and I’m absolutely thrilled. Good luck to everyone else!

For those who got in, congrats. And I have a question: when they called you, did they call home or did they call your mobile? Thx.

They called home, mobile, and school guidance office. My guidance counselor came to get me during lunch.

Does anyone know the percentage of applicants from Peabody getting accepted off the waitlist?

Congrats to all that were accepted off the Vandy waitlist. Can you please post your stats?

Vandy called my school guidance counselor on May 3 to say I was taken off the waitlist!!! I am removing myself from previously commited University of Pennsylvania.

I was accepted of the wait list on thursday. My stats are: 33 ACT, 3.6 UW GPA, SGA President, Junior Class President, Cum Laude Society, Cross Country Captain, Newspaper editor-in-chief, yearbook editor, student director of show band, supporting lead in musical, lots of community service.

So the weakest part of my application was my grades. I took an extremely rigorous curriculum but I was an A/B student until senior year where I got straight A’s. The rest of my application was very strong though. It just goes to show that grades aren’t everything!

Was accepted off the waitlist and my stats are
Sat I(superscore): 700 CR 790 M 680 W 9/12 Essay
Sat II: 760 Math II 660 Physics
GPA: around 3.5(I know it is on the low end, but I attend one of the most competitive schools in New York)
High School is regularly ranked among the top 50 public schools in America
Extracurricular
- Part of the school’s cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams since sophomore year
-worked over 200 hrs in a political campaign
-worked for the city’s department of education financial division

So besides my Sats and EC, my application was relatively subpar. I think what realy sealed the deal was the letter I wrote to them after I got waitlisted.

As for financial aid, as long as you are determined to be need-based, you should not worry too much about it. I still got 56,000 dollars in need-based aid.

It sounds like students waitlisted at Vandy have been accepted to schools like U. PENN, WUSTL and Tufts. What other top schools have Vandy waitlisted students been accepted to?

I have a 32 ACT, a 3.96 unweighted GPA (I got all A’s but my school has A-'s as 3.7), I take all IB classes at the number 2 ranked public high school in the U.S. (International Academy) and I’m heavily involved in my schools theater program and community service and I want nothing more to get into Vanderbilt, does anyone know my chances? I’m a well rounded student, and my only weak point is that I don’t have the highest ACT, but does Vanderbilt put a lot of emphasis on test scores?

I got accepted off the Engineering waitlist ACT- 33 SAT - 2150 GPA Weighted - 3.75
And I agree with mentalanime I feel like my e-mail to my counselor definitely helped. They’ve talked a lot about intent being a really strong factor for waitlist admits so if you really want to go and havent said it yet, tell them now! I made sure they knew I would definitely go if they admitted me and I got my call the first day of calls (may 3rd) Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

I got a call today at around 6:15 from my admissions counselor letting me know I got off the waitlist into the College of Arts and Sciences! I emailed my counselor when I found out I was on the waitlist and said I would definitely matriculate if accepted, which I think helped me. Good luck to everyone else!

I emailed my admissions counselor too. @Vandy and everyone else who emailed their counselors–what did they reply with? Did they imply that you would possibly get off of it? Or did they just respond with the generic “we are still waiting for responses, etc.?”

He responded saying thanks for the update and that telling him that i would definitely go if accepted is “good to know”.

They must still be sending out offers because they sent another round of emails out today! Don’t lose hope :)

Are all the admissions counselors in their office during this time? Or are some still on tour across the U.S. for accepted student orientations?

In the same boat @lexieam. There’s still a chance!

Some of the officers are out on the road, but most of them are in the office!
