Wondering about the confirmation e-mail as well.

Can we get to know before July 1st as well?

When will we find out after may 1st?

Sigh… they said they’ll start looking May 5, and will let you know by July 1.

Last year they were informed about mid-May. Or at least I know someone who was informed mid-May.

Anyone else on the waitlist for Tisch?

I got wait listed with a 1790 Sat and 3.7 GPA I thought I was going to get flat out rejected. I’m so happy

AHH thanks for the info!! I really hope we get notified in mid-May too @pomplamoose

Here’s hoping we get off the waitlist and into the programs!

Has anyone received the confirmation email for the waitlist yet? I haven’t received mine.

I got waitlisted to tisch!

I also got waitlisted at Stern.
Sat I: 2080 Sat II: 800s in Chinese. Math II. Physics GPA: 4.05 W
Stern was my dream school. But since I into Cal, I will probably just move on…

If we accept this waitlist offer, is it binding? Are we committed to go there?

I’d like to know if it is binding too. If they give me little to no financial aid, then I might not be able to afford it. Does anyone know if they still give out scholarships/aid for waitlisted people?

Hi I have a thread because I didn’t see this earlier, so if anyone could help, it’ll be great.

Hi i’ve accepted a spot on the waitlist and decided that I wanted to pursue law and polisci rather than business and finance, which means I would be opting for CAS over Stern. Would this have any bearing on my acceptance? Please note this is a genuine interest change and not a “I didn’t get into Stern so I’ll go to CAS” underhanded maneuver. I am just wondering if there are any fringe benefits.

Furthermore, does anyone have any idea what the acceptance rate is for NYU’s waitlist as well as how financial aid would be for waitlist acceptees (because I realize that NYU does it on a “how much we want you” basis).

@greengecko To my understanding, you’ll still be able to accept or decline the offer. Keep in mind however that you’ll only find out any time between May to July and if you’re leaning towards another school, chances are you’ll have already placed down a deposit by then - do you think you’d still choose NYU?

@crossthrill I honestly dont know but seeing as how NYU operates on a desirability basis, it might mean that financial aid is a bit of a stretch? Again, I don’t really know about this.

@eagersails I believe the acceptance rate depends on which school you’re hoping for. Some schools have a higher rate of people bowing out. Waitlist acceptance rates are said to be highly notorious, though. One year it went up to as high as 52% of those who accepted a spot on the list . There should be some info on this in previous years’ waitlist threads.

Hope this helps!

I was waitlisted from NYU too, but I am still very interested in Stern. I have some questions though.

1) Is a waitlisted acceptance binding? I plan on putting a deposit down for a school before May 1st, but I want to keep my options open if I do get accepted to NYU.
2) Is it smart to say I would be willing to switch to CAS? I love business and applied to Stern, but I also enjoy PoliSci and Econ. Would it help my odds? If you could, give me your input on doing this.
3) Will they still offer need-based aid? My EFC is $5,600 so, to me, it would be worth the shot.
4) Should I say I am interested in studying in DC? I wouldn’t mind, but would this immediately take me out of the running for Stern in NYC?

Here are my stats so everyone can know:

Waitlisted to Gallatin, I had no idea that the % admitted had gone so high, after also getting WL’d at UChicago and seeing their numbers. I’m going to do everything that I can to get in, any advice for this school?

I am wait listed for fall 2012.

After little bit of research I actually like NYU computer science.
