Waitlisted

Wow…I was waitlisted for Tisch Film. My SAT score was terrible so I guess my film had to be amazing. Plus I went to the summer program last year.

GPA: 92/100
SAT: 1530/2400
Took 7 AP courses, 10 honors courses
Decent EC’s with a leadership position in most of them
Tons of film awards
Good letter’s of rec
Decent essays… not my best

Well see what happens…

I just submitted my waitlist survey yesterday. I’ll post again when I receive my confirmation email. :)

i got waitlisted for Stern as well. 2210 SAT (CR 640, M 790, W 780), 4.2 Weighted GPA, rank 3/1050. This year’s applicant pool is so competitive, I think I will put down CAS as my alternative program this time. fingers crossed everyone.

I was also wait listed to Stern and received my confirmation email this past friday. Does anyone know when Stern waitlistees hear back?

They notify waitlists by school? Or all at once? This’ll probably happen mid may?

I just got my confirmation email today.

Anybody know if they look at 2nd semester grades to determine the Admitted WL?

it doesnt as far as i know

I thought we were supposed to send in our second semester grades? I could be wrong.

^Nope. The email/form specifically said to refrain from sending ANY additional material to them beyond the form.

Ah thank you!

I believe there will be less people getting off NYU waitlist this year because they seem to give out more scholarships/grants to admitted students. 4 people from my school got into NYU CAS. 3 of them received 40,000 scholarship/grants from NYU, and another girl got roughly 20,000 scholarship/grants. Here’s my assumptinon. Since NYU had to admit 52% of students off waitlist last year (probably because they gave out crappy fin aid to many admitted students, and those admitted students chose not to attend NYU in fall. Plus many parents felt the impact of recession), NYU chose to lure admitted students with generous money this year. Hopefully, more than 2% students will get off NYU waitlist this year. I’m really concerned.

Is it appropriate to send NYU a letter of continued interest along with a recommendation letter, or will this merely hurt my chances of getting off the waitlist?

Wait-listed from Stern. Accepted a spot on 03/09 (same day I received the email). Confirmation email came on 04/11.

Here are my stats:

Premier NE Boarding School
GPA: 3.514 UW (most rigorous course load, 6-8 APs by graduation + multiple honors classes)
SAT: 2150 (700 CR, 710 M, 740 W)
SAT II: 740 Math II, 720 Foreign Language, 610 US History
Mediocre ECs, great essays (according to teachers/counselor), generic academic awards (AP Scholar, Cum Laude, High Honor Roll)

I emailed admissions and they stated that it was fine. I sent my letter to my regional AO just this afternoon.

Also as for schools I was admitted to:
Boston College (CSOM), UMichigan, USC (Marshall), and St Andrews in Scotland

How long did you guys wait to get a confirmation from NYU?

I sent in my application on April 20th, and I’m still waiting for a confirmation email from NYU. I think this would take 4 or 5 days. You can call them to make sure they have your RSVP form.

I was waitlisted also by email. But the email that they sent me was deleted by accident before I could reply to the waitlist. Can someone please post the link asap!!

[Waitlist Information](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

You can get to the form but you’ll need your NYU Univeristy ID number which was included in the email that you got saying you were waitlisted. Try checking your trash folder, otherwise you may have to call.

Hey do you guys know if it’s okay to fill in the waitlist form again because I’d like to update them on some other volunteer work I did recently.
