Waitlisted???!

Surprisingly, I was waitlisted at Notre Dame, and I say "surprisingly" because I am not a legacy nor do I have high test scores (so maybe they see something in me?). Be that as it may, I truly still want to attend ND, and I was wondering if there is anything that I could do to get off the waitlist. I know that I could contact my regional rep and express my interest, but I bet that almost everyone is doing that.

And I have a second question concerning how they pick people from the waitlist. Essentially, I want to know if there are any certain factors that play into waitlist admissions. I hear rumors that they look at geographical distribution, interest, race, etc. Do you think that they still consider test scores at this point? I ask this because they say technically students offered a spot on the waitlist are as qualified as the students that have been accepted.

...so if anyone could please answer my questions, I would be extremely grateful :)

Well I don’t want to be a downer but it is pretty hard to get off the waitlist at Notre Dame. Mostly it has to do with how many people ultimately decide to attend Notre Dame, and last year I’m not sure anyone was taken off it (I was waitlisted and denied. I’m applying to transfer this fall) because so many people decided to go. Sometimes showing interest helps or sending a letter (Notre Dame, more than any other college I applied to, seems to take personal interest in their applicants), but like I said it might not be in your hands anymore. Good luck!
