did anyone who got waitlisted get a reply yet? i know that we will get a reply after may 1/2 but just wanted to know in advance. thanks

Nope, no reply from them yet here. I emailed Cornell and I’m not sure to which college you applied, but I did ILR and they said that the earliest they’ll notify is the second week of May. Hope that helps :-)

yes that does. but i thought they would let us know right after the may 1st deadline? and also did you get an email confirmation after you said yes to remaining on the waitlist?

I thought so too, but the woman who contacted me back said starting second week of May. I think the gap is the time it takes to reevaluate the applicants waitlisted. And nope, I didn’t.

Duke already started to contact some WL people, which is quite early. Cornell generally starts the second week. It is good to let them know that you would attend if addmitted. They would most likely contact you by phone or call your GC, and would want an answer right away. They wouldn’t send out a letter to you unless you commit. Good luck.

C’mon guys. This level of monitoring is nuts. It’s not even May 1 and you’re already asking if WL offers have gone out? So what if they have? Unless it’s you, what will that information do for you? The fact is very few offers will go out. You might be one who gets one. Odds are against it however. Whether they start going out on May 3 or May 23 means… what?

C’mon folks, move along. If you get that magical call, great for you. If you were anywhere near a realistic Cornell candidate (and having a WL spot indicates you are), then you’re heading to a great school in the Fall. Most likely not Cornell but probably a fantastic situation. Move along.

When my kid was WL, I found out on CC that Cornell was going to its WL. The GC called Cornell to let them know again that my kid would go if she got off the WL. She got an official call from Cornell that afternoon. As I have posted before, by the time they get to WL, adcom wants to get it over and done with it as soon as possible. They are not going to go through a pile of few thousand WL kids again. If some how you could be on top of that pile…For my kid’s year, they took over 100 off WL, but since then it has been very few to 0. Cornell’s yield has been going up.

T26E4, get a hold of yourself. The person was just asking a simple question out of curiosity. I don’t know if you’ve ever been in this situation, but it’s a mental comfort knowing what’s going on and getting a better idea of your chances.

oldfort- thanks for the positive feedback, your experience is giving me some hope. I’ll try talking to my counselor about that.
