Waitlisted

“Dear BelleReve:
The Admission Committee has completed is review of applications for the freshman class entering Bentley in Fall 2006. Over 6,000, students, the highest number in the college’s history, applied for the 880 openings in the class, resulting in a very competitive applicant pool. We regret that we were not able to admit as many qualified candidates as we would have desired.
The Admission Committee remains very interested in you, and I am writing to offer you a place on our wait list for Fall 2006. During the weeks ahead, we will carefully monitor our freshman enrollment. Unfortunately, we must wait for the enrollment numbers to settle after May 1st before we can render a final decision for you. We expect to make additional admission offers to students on our wait list between May 5th and May 15th, space permitting…”

880/6000? That’s like a 15 percent acceptance rate! Collegeboard says there were 937 First-time degree-seeking freshmen last year. Anyone else find this odd?

I'm thinking of scheduling an interview but perhaps that might make me seem desperate? Or very interested. I don't know...

I'm surprised you were waitlisted with such a high SAT score. Your gpa maybe kind of low but I'm assuming you took some AP/advanced courses.

I don't know, but it seems they are becoming a lot more selective with their recent classes.

hang in there, expressing your desire to go IF this is your top choice, is a good idea, but be sure it is your #1 school if you decide to go that route.
