Alright so I was wait listed as an RD applicant. I ready through the FAQ's and I'm genuinely confused as to how this works. Am I supposed to enroll in another school and then wait to hear back? Historically, is there any wait list data? Also, when exactly should we expect to hear back? Emory is my absolute top choice and I'm staying hopeful despite the odds being against me.

Yes you have to enroll to another school and then wait to hear back. Then if you get off the waitlist and accept your offer you just tell the other school you aren’t going even though the deposit might be nonrefundable at that other school. You should be able to hear back after May 1st

@peke85 I am sorry I wish I could offer you a number or statistic about admission off the wait-list, but only admission officers would be able to offer a anywhere near accurate number. I highly recommend you call the admission office with any questions like this, but what I can tell you is that in all reality no one probably knows at this point. From what I understand as a mere student at Emory is that students are pulled from the wait list to fill any empty holes in the class of 2018. That is why typically students are not offered spots off the wait-list until after the final deadline for students to say yes or no to Emory admission offer. Please do not look at being on the waistline as a sign of your academic ability or worth. The reality is that Emory receives far to many qualified applicants then they could possibly admit. When my friend was wait-listed from his dream school we found it was helpful to think of it like this: if Emory admitted even one more student, out of the almost 20,000 who applied, that could have been me! If you truly love Emory and make it off the wait-list I will be excited to see you on campus next fall, but if not get PUMPED about your college. No matter where you end up attending you can make an amazing 4 year experience, and heck, if you still find you wish you came to Emory for a special program or the such, you can always apply as a transfer student. Best of luck the rest of senior year!

@theatregeek234 Thanks so much for your help! I’m planning on enrolling at either Bates College or GWU. If I don’t get in off the wait list, I’m 100% transferring to Emory, no doubt!

I saw a post in 2009 indicating that there were no off-waitlist applicants. This year will be definitely hard for waitlisted students

I was accepted off the waitlist this afternoon, therefore the waitlist is active!
