I’m waitlisted with a 1440/1600, 2100/2400, 4.2, great EC’s, great essays, and great teacher recs. Unfortunately, I am rejected at all top-tier schools.

How do I get off the waitlist?

Do I have a chance of getting off??

I'm so sorry...that really stinks. It seems to me that BU thought u were overqualified and wouldn't attend if accepted, so they put u on the wait list. In my opinion, u have a great chance of getting off, but u could improve ur chances by maybe sending a letter saying that, if accepted, u will definitely attend BU. That would show the adcoms that u are genuinely interested in BU and aren't just using it as a safety school. You could also send in some updated grades and/or awards u have won this year to show how well u are doing senior year.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know what happens.

Also, I would give them a call to show ur continued interest in BU... You could get some of ur questions answered and they'll know that u are seriously interested.

Shiba,

Your comments are a bit offensive to the students who were admitted don't you think? You are essentially saying the BU only admits less qualified applicants. Yet if you look aroung this board you see a lot of people getting accepted with very high stats.

I am just amazed at how many people have adopted this "you must have been too good" excuse. It's not just about the stats!!!

Hoping18:

Obviously, I got in with much lower stats, and I'm grateful that BU recognized my interest and looked past my relatively low SAT scores. Unfortunately, many other schools I applied to didn't do so. My comments definitely don't mean to offend anyone. BU is a great school, my #1, and I'm attending next year. Personally, I'm glad to see that "some" colleges are willing to look beyond the basic GPA and SATs for something more...passion, leadership, and a genuine interest in the school.

Sorry if it sounded that way, because if it did, I definitely didn't mean it. From personal experience, I love schools that look for personality and passion in applicants. If they didn't, I would have had a harder time getting in. It's great to see that some colleges are moving away from accepting applicants with just high grades and SAT scores. Really, it's all about whether you will be an asset to the school, and not just academically. :)

Hoping18: Are u planning on attending BU next year?

No, will either be Syracuse, Tufts, or (decision pending) Notre Dame.

HideNSeek,
Definitely call and email admssions and state that you will attend if offered a spot. Do one form of communication this week and another next week then call again after a few weeks if you do not hear. If your latest grades are a positive note that in your communication and also remind them in the emaIL ABOUT YOUR sat SCORES. Good luck.

I found out on Monday that I was waitlisted. 1290 SAT, top 25%, NHS VP, Eagle Scout, tons of ECs. I also had an active alum write me a letter of reccomendation.

Also, I applied undecided? Did anybody else?
