Waitlisted!!

i was waitlisted at tech, yet i got into uga, florida, and tennesse... but i really want tech.. how often to they let wait-listed ppl in and when do they let us know!??

By last year's numbers:

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list 426
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 208
Number of wait-listed students admitted 102
Is your waiting list ranked? No

You have a pretty good shot of getting in. However, note that waitlists change drastically year by year. From what I've heard, I think Tech ranks their wait-listed students now.

Did you get just a waitlist or were you accepted to the Freshman Summer Session AND waitlisted? If you got into FSS, you're in Tech. You should know during the first or second week of May...which conveniently enough adds more stress to AP testing : |.

They accepted about 49% of waitlisted apps last year, so there's hope!

What is amazing to me is the number of kids that were waitlisted but if they go to ss then they can continue in the fall. And those kids are going to somewhere like USC or Auburn just so they don't have to go to ss. Parents out there...college is with you for life. Advise your kids to go to a school that prepares them for that. You don't pick college so that you can slack off and waste four years.

beatduke, I'm going to FSS because I want to! I'm cancelling a summer trip for this!

What is the Summer Session???

The Freshman Summer Session (FSS) is a new program at Georgia Tech that allows Freshman to enroll in Summer to get some core courses out of the way. The way it works is, a FSS student goes to orientation (FASET) and take a maximum of 8 credits over the summer and continues his or her Tech education in the fall. So the FSS student enrolls a semester early for a shortened (June 16-July29) session.

Oh, I thought it was for people who got deffered or waitlisted and have the option to go to it if they want to go to Tech in the fall. Georgia Southern has something like this.

just lettin yall know!! i got offered the FSS and took it so i'm a yellow jacket now!
