Waitlisted

I have been waitlisted to the University of Minnesota and classmates of mine have been accepted with lower stats than I.I do not feel this had to do with rolling admissions since I applied Aug 30 and many of my classmates applied in December. I have a 3.8 gpa, act 23 ( I know not the best),and many extracurriculars and leadership positions held consistently within those. This is not the biggest concern for me because I have been accepted to the other universities I have applied to. the problem is that they will let you know the updated status in April. I have to make a decision about another college in April to sign up for a mandatory orientation. Should I just forget about U of M and go with the other college I am interested in? Thank you in advance.

Is the other college telling you that you have to enroll before May 1? If so that would be a big No-No. No-one is required to submit an enrollment fee prior to National Decision Day. Sometimes universities will encourage their students to enroll early (to ensure they get their residence hall or orientation day of choice) but will refund the enrollment fee if you finalize your plans elsewhere. You might check to see if that’s the case here.

Mandatory orientations will not be “sold out” before May 1. This other college will make more sessions available if need be.

Whether to forget about U of MN is a personal decision determined by how high it was on your list, your perceived chances of being accepted off the waitlist, etc.

Good luck!

I got waitlisted with a 23 act and 3.98 gpa, but im just gonna wait to see if i get in!
