Waitlisted

I applied EA and was deferred and today I got a letter via mail that I was waitlisted. This is very frustrating because they will not give me a final decision until May 15th and I will need to put down my first deposit to whatever school I plan on attending by May 1st. Has anyone else gotten this? Or for others who experienced this in the past, any advice? I kinda took this as a decline but I guess it’s a bit better than that.

Oh no! That IS frustrating. I’ve never really thought about it but I guess they literally “wait” until they see how many kids register and then offer up additional spots. Ugh–that is a tough spot to be in. I guess you’ll have to put a deposit down for your next choice school and then if you get a spot at USC, decide if you’re willing to give up that deposit to go there instead. I wish you the best on whatever your decisions and final outcome are!

Got the small envelope yesterday-waitlisted and can only be put on waitlist for my alternate major as no one will be admitted to Darla Moore business school from waitlist as per letter. M portal has not changed at all. I am OOS , applied 10/10, 3.6 GPA (HS weighted not USC weighted which would be higher), 1230 SAT. @malaka99 I think the latest you would hear is May 15 as they will probably start admitting off the waitlist before then.

I would proceed as though you are denied and make a deposit on another school.

same boat here. my portal hasnt changed to sign up for wait list yet, has anyone elses?

Just submitted my waitlist form. I have 1120 SAT and 4.6 weighted GPA. Really hoping to hear back before May 15th, as I’ve been offered a scholarship at another great school and must accept by May 1st.

It is critical that you pay the deposit before May 1 for the other school, or you forfeit that slot.
According to USC’s website, they will make notifications about waitlist in mid-May. That happens after they run the data on May 2 to see who enrolled, and who didn’t.

According to CollegeData.com, last year "Students Offered Wait List
1,499 " There are no stats on how many were offered a slot. That is probably largely because it varies by major.
Good luck.

Since you have a scholarship offer from another school, you should deposit there so you do not lose the scholarship.
