I don’t want to come across as entitled or egotistical with this but i’m genuinely shocked I was waitlisted at UCSC. It has the highest acceptance rate of any UC I applied to and I was expecting to get in. Now Im worried about my chances at the other UCs. Is being waitlisted at one school a sign I should be worried about the more selective schools?

Being waitlisted at one UC is not a sign that you will not be accepted at the other UC’s. Each UC determines the best fit applicants based on their own criteria and each UC is different. You are a competitive applicant so I am sure you will have several great options in the end. Best of luck.
I knew a student a few years back who was rejected by Davis and accepted by Berkeley. You just never know.
I think you might be “over-qualified.” UCSC could have sensed that they were your safety and as a result, waitlisted you because you are likely to choose better school’s acceptances over UCSC.
Don’t worry about your competieveness; you are definitely competitive. I don’t think there’s any major red flags with your application or any other reason why you have been waitlisted - so this is NOT a sign.
Most likely yield protection.
