all of the letters received up until now have been rejection ones, right? maybe it's a good sign you haven't received one at all, yet.

and i heard (from some unreliable, ambiguous sources, but still--) that the waiting list is ranked by schools. so, if you go to a big school with like 10 kids waitlisted at BU, they have each kid ranked 1-10 for that school

i also have a question-- i know a lot of kids (like around 7) that were accepted and then decided to go to another school. what happens with their spots? does BU send out more admits than they can handle, knowing that kids aren't going to come? because if they send just the right amount of admits, expecting all of the students to come, they must have to draw from the waiting list when lots of kids are dropping out

does BU send out more admits than they can handle, knowing that kids aren't going to come?>>

Yes, that is what they do...send out more admits than they hope will enroll. I know that in DS's major at BU, they accepted a certain number of students his freshman year NEVER expecting that all would come...they did. So they actually ended up OVER enrolled for that particular major.

There isn't really a way for me to give you an idea of how often we go
to our waitlist. It really depends on how many students accept their
spot in our class and how many students accept their spot on the
waitlist. We should have a better idea about these numbers by mid-May,
once enrollment deposits have been processed. Last year, we did not go
to our waitlist. Two years ago, we accepted approximately 90 students,
so it varies greatly each year. I would recommend that you write a
letter letting us know that we are your first choice.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
again.

i think everyone that has not received a rejection letter yet might probably still have a chance. seems as if every who did get rejected got their letters on the 8th.

It is frustrating that the only things that have been sent out are rejections, and not everyone has gotten a letter. Does this mean that they are not taking people, or that they are simply sending rejections first? And does that letter that starburyknicks recieved concern all BU waitlistees or just ones that were taken into CAS?

i did, but im afraid it was a little bit too late, my letter was postmarked the 6th(i sent it a bit late thinking the letters will come out the 15th), ironically the same day as the rejection letter. i wasnt taken into CAS (i didnt put anything down for my 2nd choice), so i was rejected to the school of management

why dont u call them up or send an email asking what EXACTLY is going on and telling them that this is becoming really frustrating; if they are not taking anyone at all, then they should just tell you that.
P.S. I think you should speak directly to Rachel McNamara (the admission coordinator); she gives accurate and straightforward responses

Your right, I really should call them. I went on a trip and expected that the responce would come while I was gone, and naturally it didn't. I came back today (the 15th) obviously expecting SOMETHING from them but still nothing. So I am really stumped as to what they are doing.

Malery...just curious...have you sent in a deposit to another college...and where?? Wishing you luck on BU...but also hoping you have another plan!!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but....

... my dad called BU when i was at work and they apparantly sent out letters on monday, explaining that they will not be taking ANY people from the waiting list.

whether or not that is true is up to you to decide, but they were very straightforward. i dont think they would lie

Well it is SUPER late for speculation, but yesterday morning I called up and they said that they know that they aren't taking people for certain programs but she "thinks" that they are taking people for communications but she "isn't sure". I do agree though, what BU has done is ridiculous, if they aren't taking any one they should have told us sooner and in one big wave, and if they are taking people, they shouldn't be continually lieing to us.

O yes I did...what the hell does that mean. I am definitly going to call first thing Monday and ask if this just means that we are on another list or if we might actually hear if we are in in any time soon.

My daughter received the letter today. It looks like you can get on another list and you will be considered for spring enrollment. If you go on that list, you may still get in for this fall. If you say no - it's game over. I think they'll get a lot of calls on Monday. My daughter was planning to attend Northeastern. Now she is confused. Will you still go to UC Davis?

Well, I would much rather go to BU (although I have come to terms with going to Davis so it wouldn't be the end of the world). You are right that they are going to get a ton of calls on Monday, but unfortunatly I don't think they are going to be giving out very many straight answers. I would love to know what the honest chances are that I (we, I suppose) are going to be admitted for Spring, because I am SO SO SO sick of this BU admissions charade. I want to stay on this list, but at some point I would like a difinitive answer as to whether they are going to let me come, or if it is Davis for me.
