I thought I'd start a thread for all the waitlisted people (including me). Discuss, ask questions, whatever.

I have a question (or rather, question*s: I know that I can send in new stuff, but what sort of stuff is best, how much is too much (and for that matter, how much is too little), is there anything I **shouldn't* send in? Is it okay to update essays and short answer question answers? If I already sent in one supplemental rec (from my German teacher; I would have sent it in as a standard rec if a math/science wasn't required), how many more, if any, is it okay to send in? Any other tips? Thanks!

I don't want to invade this thread, but I was deferred and now accepted.
Here's what I did:

1) I immediately wrote my admissions lady an e-mail. I thought it was pretty passionate and indicative of how important the school is to me.
2) Sent in an additional research abstract
3) My GC wrote a letter explaining how interested I was.
4) I wrote another letter in the additional info section of my mid-year report.
5) I made good grades. (You may want to send them like a midterm grade report)

Not to sound discouraging...and I really hope lots of you get in off the waitlist...but last year they didn't take a single person off the wait list. But...this year there is some uncertainty regarding the decisions of kids who get accepted at Ivies. I strongly encourage you to call the admissions, write e-mails, send supplemental material...basically make a nuisance of yourself. Everyone from my high school who got into a selective school from the waiting list (and there were approximately eight of a class of 120) did it by just constantly contacting the admissions office and sending stuff in. It's definitely not over... Good luck!!!
