waitlisted?

i heard someone in our town received a waitlisted letter. anyone else? we haven't gotten anything yet.

I received a waitlist letter on Saturday.

good luck to you. they now have a whole section on the udel website about waitlisting if you want to check it out.

we still got nothing.

good luck to everybody!

i was also waitlisted on sat along with my other friend. im a bit dissapointed but a crazy amount of people applied. i think the letter said like 25,000 and their freshman class will only consist of 3,555

For those of you who are waitlisted. My son was accepted and is 99% certain he wont attend. Because he and I both know how many others would love to have been accepted, he has promised to make a final decision by this weekend, to free up this spot.

That's at least one opening and I, for the sake of those of you who are waitlisted, am hopeful that there will be more.

Good luck to you all!

that is sweet of you. i worry because u del had a record number of applications this year, 25000! which for a freshman class of 4000 is a lot! i'm sure some accepted students to udel have already made other plans as most schools seem to have notified kids already. it is a difficult process, and is probably hard for them as well.

here is a quote from their website about waitlisted students:

Students on the Wait-List

What are my chances of being pulled off of the wait list?
Last year, we offered admission to 31 students out of 828 waitlisted candidates. The year before, however, we offered admission to 595 students from a waitlist of 1,237. Knowing how difficult it is to wait, we can make you this promise: the Admissions Committee will try to respond as quickly as we can.

Thanks for your responses. I have also heard of several students who do not plan to attend Delaware. My thought (and this is very possibly wishful thinking) is that due to the late notification date, many students already put deposits down on other colleges and therefore do not plan to attend. I'm also crossing my fingers that this year's numbers will be more like those in 2006 than in 2007.

The people that were waitlisted - What were your stats?

Anyone heard of many kids getting rejected yet??

4.0 GPA
SAT:
570 Reading
590 Math
580 Writing

decent amount of extracurriculars

im within their range regarding gpa and sat scores, but i just think it was way too competitive this year. those who were waitlisted would have probably made it in 2-3 years ago. i wonder how many they actually waitlisted

I am astonished. My sister attends udel and does really well.
My stats..3.80 1180 sat tons of ecs good recs national honor society, etc
Rejected!! Im soo sad

Xaries - What major were you applying to?

Maryann:

I applied for biology (like my sister)
My parents also donate to the biology department.
I'm so annoyed

i'm sorry you didn't get in. i am wondering if you can appeal? and hopefully you have some other acceptances that you like.

this is our first time with this and i think things happen for a reason. your other option is to go somewhere else and then re-apply as a transfer student.

good luck.

theres was a 42% acceptance rate according to the dean of admissions. thats insane

does anyone know what percentage of those not admitted were waitlisted?

just got the weirdest letter from them (haven't seen the original, just a fax to the office so far).

It is a form letter, not addressed to my son, but rather a note to all applicants with a Q&A. never says admitted, denied or waitlisted.

pretty cold.

I am submitting my withdrawal from accepatance. I hope it helps a person in a waiting list
