Get to know the admissions staff. Make sure they're aware that if you are accepted you will attend. Let them know about any new information (awards, research papers, test scores, etc.).

I was an International applicant, but I received my green card two days ago. Would this be significant enough to be an update?

Would you still be an international applicant? I don't really know how that sort of thing works. In any case, I doubt it could hurt to tell admissions about it.

No, the thing is, I don't count as an International Student anymore.

The question is: Will this help me get off the waitlist?

I don't know that anyone here knows that answer to that. It certainly won't hurt you to mention it...

Ok thanks

10 char

it also depends on your financial needs (what you indicated when you applied)...just read from caltech's website that as an international student, financial aid is NOT need blind......

I did not apply for financial aid

does anyone know the statistics for waitlists at tech?

It varies wildly from year to year from 0 to 30+ taken off the list.
