What does that mean and what are the odds of getting accepted?

it means that they liked you, but they liked other people more and will take you if those people who were accepted decide to go to another school. as far as the odds are concerned, it varies with each school, and few schools divulge information about the odds of getting off the waitlist. in most cases, you wont find out your final status at a school youve been waitlisted at until after 5/1. many places wont tell you where you stand on the waitlist, so you basically have to just wait and see and have other schools lined up.

Thanks. Anyone know if there was a huge waitlist this year?

Pretty true. I got accepted to GW Eliott and I might go to somewhere else instead. There will be quite a few people leaving for other schools.

Yeah, GW is my second choice next to Georgetown but if I was waitlisted for GW...

it's the same for me! I was pretty sure that I'd get into GW, and now I don't even want to think about my chances for Georgetown. Sadly, I'll probably end up going to American, which I only sort of liked.

Me too! I wasn't too thrilled with American but if it comes down to me choosing between Mason and American I will most definitely choose American. I refuse to give up hope though.

ugh. ugh. ugh.
i wish i had my mail from GW right now so i could evaluate this waitlist situation...

i guess they dont like leaders with 34 acts...... GAH

What kind of info do they send in their waitlist letters?

Is anybody else feeling like the decisions seem completely random?

What schools were you all waitlisted from?

they send what number in line u are and when they'll notify u and ****.

Oh. I hope that letter gets here soon! Has anyone gotten an official snail mail letter saying that they were waitlisted?

that is weird... yield protection?

yea.... to join this waitlist group i was waitlisted with a 2270, leadership positions, and a 3.93 gpa

It does seem like the decisions are random. My son was waitlisted at American but got in to GW. Waitlisted at Providence but got into University of Miami.

I think alot of schools are now basing a large portion of their applications on interest. If they feel you are applying only to have a "safety" school, they are denying or waitlisting. Interest seems to be a HUGE factor at GW, hence the high admission rate dor ED1 and ED2 even though with lower test scores and stats

Is there anything that I should do to prove to them that I am very interested? Do you think that they will give interviews? I live close to GW so that wouldn't be too hard. Perhaps write a "letter of intent"?

I dont think they will give interviews..but definitely keep in contact, a letter or email perhaps..showing that GW was your top school and you still very interested in attending

i got waitlisted; any chance that if i do get accepted, they'll give me a decent scholarship?
my reasoning tells me that there isn't, but just wondering. i wouldn't attend gwu if i'd have to pay full tuition.

id gladly attend AU though, they gave me 27k!
