Interesting…I hope so too…This school year has been full of surprises

Good news for in staters, due to tuition increase and financial uncertainty at UW, D just withdrew her OOS SIR. Took 2 hours to get through to counselor. She had been busy all morning getting withdrawls from OOS’ers so those of you on the waitlist, hold tight because it looks like when all is said and done, many of you may get in. The thing is, I have talked to financial aid twice in the last month, they were very nice but said the in-state tuition is set by the state but the OOS tuition is set by the Regents and it may not be until Mid May to Mid July that they will set OOS tuition. I do know that it has risen as estimated 7% for sure. This will be too late for OOSers who need to make other plans by May1. So don’t be surprised if they are taking people off the wait list into the summer. Good luck all!

Does anyone know how many people who were invited to be on the waitlist actually want to do so?

idk if they release that information, i havent been able to find it anywhere or in any conversations with uw people. i did find on the cds that usually about half of the invited people accept spots, so if that trend continues it will be between 1000-1500 probably

I talked with my counselor and he mentioned about not everybody invited on the waitlist want to be on it so he was emailed UW and they figure around 1000 will want to be on list…Not sure if he said in 1000 area or around 1000…because there is a difference between 1100 and 1800

well 1000 is a pretty good number i think…i do hope he meant around 1000 not in the 1000s though. im waiting for may 1 to know how many people actually enroll…

Well i hope all you people on the waitlist get admitted (chances seems pretty decent)… this year was really crazy, and remember dont blame yourself blame the economy…

Thanks helo much appreciated…I’m just curious how they are gonna weigh the strength of the waitlist applicants? A combination of essays + good grades? First term grades + essays? Anyone know how they usually do it?

well when i met with the counselor he said they look at your original application, and definitely consider the first term grades you sent in on that yellow form. i guess they pretty much re-review it like it was the first time, only they have one term of senior year grades this time

Mcf11…do you know any others at your school invited to be waitlisted and deciding to get on the list itself? I only know a few ppl at my school who are on the waitlist and I know two who are definitely signing up

i got waitlisted for stanford but they tell you only 5% of transfer get in and that you are limited to 3 applications total(including the one you sent in), isnt that a slap in the face?

WOW that is…I can’t believe they have a limit! Stanford is insane

Are you from WA and is UW your backup Sapphire_ocean

i know right!? so im stuck between ucla and usc, but i dont get my financial aid from usc until next week… and even if i do decide, stanford has until july 1st to give me their decision… where should i go??

im from CA , no UW was a possibility but i didnt end up applying there… did you?

yeah myself included, i know 4 people waitlised (all of whom should have actually gotten in), and 3 of us are taking a place on the waitlist.

sapphire-this is a thread for people who have been waitlisted for uw, so we all applied there…

hahaha so sorry everyone, im new to this, didnt realize this forum was all about UW, i just looked at the headline! sorry once again

haha no worries, just wanted to let you know before it got too far along

lol…

Mcf11- thanks for the info…

so, since i already feel stupid , lol, … what are everyones backup schools?
