Waitlisted.

haha thanks seaboy. i was just making sure nothing was wrong with mine, like the sent me a wrong letter or something, idk. but yeah i got an e-mail, and i am also not looking forward to waiting nearly another two months before i know, its just so frustrating

Yeah it’s pretty frustrating…after may 1st I hope they have some news about speculating how much room, if any, is left

yeah i’m waiting for that day too, i want to call admissions a few days after may 1 and ask how many people enrolled and how many are on the waitlist too…plus we will find out by sunday i think what the budget is and if they are allowed to increase tuition since we know thats a huge factor in whether they can let us in or not.

mcf11, if you do call admissions could you keep us posted about the numbers? and the increases tuition?

so what high school do you guys go to? I go to Sammamish and this waiting is frustrating for me also.

tecu-yeah i will definitely let you guys know. though idk what they will be willing to tell me…haha whatever i do find out though will definitely go on here. so far, it looks like tuition is going up by 14% each year over the next two years–the state senate passed that bill last week and the house is likely to pass it too so we will see about that.

tuition is a big factor like mcf11 says…though do you think if they decide to use the waitlist, other factors taken into consideration like parent’s income are gonna be big ones?
Because they might also look for applicants that can pay for the increased tuition.

Also I have another clarification in the email received today…they[UW] mentioned “updating” applicants in an email by the end of june… does that mean admission decisions over email? Or letting us know where they are in reviewing and stuff?

they have so much conflicting info between this email, the website, the letter and the counselors its terrible. the website and letter i think both say that you will receive an admissions decision between june 1 and august 1. the uw counselor i spoke with said it could even be earlier than that. this email just says “update”…what does that even mean? im guessing, based on the other info, that it means by the end of june you will get something that either says accepted, rejected or we still havent decided on you. it would be awesome if they could actually tell us something straight up for once

so i guess its safe to say that the tuition increase is a good thing for waitlistees?

Also from what i know is that many applicants last year got a notification towards the end of May but that may be the case becuz not many waitlistees were accepted last year which means descions were made faster…

I was just curious as to who gets priority on the waitlist? Is it determined by academics or just first come first serve based on when you applied?

ok so its basically another whole round of reviewing applications again…no rank or priority…

esp- yeah tuition increases are good for us, assuming we can pay for the increase. but it does mean that some people can’t pay for the increase, and for oos people it means they probably wont enroll (from what i’ve heard earlier on this thread and others) because the board who decides oos tuition gets until july to do so, and most people wont be able to pay for the increase and it will be too late for financial aid so they have to enroll elsewhere.

hmm… im kind of confused tho… wouldn’t it be appropriate for the UW to extend their May 1 enrollment deadline considoring the unexpectancies of the tuition increases? this is getting really hectic…!

well it would be nice of them but since every single other school in the country has a may 1 deadline, it would conflict with them. see the problem would be that people would want to wait to see if they could afford the tuition increases, but then if they find out mid-june that they cannot afford it and wont get financial aid, they are stuck since all other schools tell you to enroll by may 1–they wouldn’t have anywhere to go.

soo fyi for everyone, the tuition increase bill passed the full house today and after passing the senate ways and means committee will go to a full vote there. everyone in the ligislature is confident it will be signed into law…good news for us

HOORAY… hopefully…we all get in xD also when do waitlistees send in their official hs transcripts to the UW if they get admitted lets say during July-August?

i know im waiting for the budget to pass then may 1 to come so we can get things started haha idk i would say just request your final transcript before school ends so you have it whenever the ask for it

Hi everyone,

I have a suggestion to alleviate stress. If the cost isn’t too great, and you can afford it, accept at your second choice college by their deadline (usually May 1). You’ll have to decide if the confirmation fee is worth paying, but at least that way if you don’t end up getting into UW you’ll know you’re safe with your second choice. If UW comes through later, you can just notify your 2nd choice college that you won’t be attending after all and forfeit the confirmation fee. Some schools charge more to confirm than others, but this might be worth looking into…

well… in about a week we will have a real good idea if the UW will be able to accomodate us this year. If anyone hears ne news after May 1st it would be much appreciated if you could post the info. :)
