waitlisted!

i just got waitlisted from northeastern... i applied for pharmacy program.
this is my first time being waitlisted.
so they tell me to accept the offer of waitlist and they will release the decisions by no later than june 1.
by that time, i sud be commited to one college already.

but should i still accept the offer?
because i like northeastern a lot... but i dont wanna miss other schools either.

Sure, why not? You’ve got nothing to lose by doing so. If they have a space they may let you know “sooner” than June 1. And you can never be absolutely sure about your other options until you get actual acceptances.

When you’re waitlisted, you commit to another school by May 1 and, if you’re accepted off the waitlist, you withdraw your commitment to the other school and commit to the waitlist school.
So, yes. You’ll have a chance at Northeastern and you will not “miss other schools either,” because that’s how waitlists work.

Prussial - it’s not true. If you should get off the waitlist, you do not have to accept it. Even if they say June 1 is when they notify waitlisted students, it could be earlier, like a week after May 1.

If NE is your first choice, wait a few weeks until the dust settles. Have either you or or GC to call adcom to find out why you were waitlisted. I would tell you that if you are not a full pay student then you should just forget about it because most schools would only take full pay students off their waitlist. You should prepare a packet to include another essay stating why NE is still your first choice, latest transcript, one or two more recommendation letters, additional awards if any. Start contacting NE early May to find out when they would go to their waitlist.

Yes, you should put a deposit down for another school. You would lose that deposit if you were to get off the waitlist. There is no way around it.

Oh, pardon, I didn’t mean that you have to go to the waitlist school, I just assumed that if you stayed on the waitlist in the first place that it was because you preferred that school to the one you committed to by May 1. I mean, otherwise, why would you even accept a spot on the waitlist to a school you wouldn’t choose anyway?
Guess I shouldn’t have been ambiguous, though. No, you don’t have to accept a waitlist school’s acceptance offer. You can go to the school you originally committed to if you want.
