waitlisted

:( uhhhhhhhhh
now i have to wait again...
i thought the wait was over

whats your stats?

89.8 w gpa
1880 sat scores (560 CR, 670 M, 650 WR)

2 AP classes this year (Psych and Micro)
4 school clubs, youth group, volunteer, 2 jobs

same, 4.0 W 1910 SAT alot of honors and AP

Daughter waitlisted and is very surprised. Brother went there…good SATs (1870), good GPA (3/6), tons of activities; wonderful recommendation from guidance.

i was waitlisted also, 3.3 gpa, 1960 sats = 670 reading, 630 math, 660 writing. tons of extra curriculars, alot of volunteer hours, work experience… i even got a letter of recommendation from a highly regarded alumni. im really confused as to why i was waitlisted, thought delaware was a sure shot for me…

averykate, what major did have on your application? Did you have many AP classes?

I applied as a Fashion Design major. I am taking AP Economics as well as Honors English, Honors Western Civilization, and I’m in the Italian Honor Society.

its so stupid…
there are a lot of kids in my school who are considered minorities and got accepted…
its not fair

But is that the only AP class you’ve taken? They like to see a challenging course load. Is Fashion Design harder to get into than other majors?

If anyone hears anything after submitting their waitlist form, please post here.

Try being a minority then talk about fair.

yes that is the only ap class i have taken but i have been in honors classes all throughout highschool. i’m wondering if i was waitlisted because the fashion design program is so small?

i talked to someone i know in admissions and they said the reason i was waitlisted was because the program i applied for only takes very few students and if i had applied undecided i probably would have gotten accepted! that makes me really annoyed.

Yes, but then what happens when try to get into that major after a year and find out that you can’t get in? Then you’re stuck and will have to transfer to another school unless you want to find another major. Also, what if there were classes you had to take freshman year for your major that you would not have been able to get into if you were undecided? If applying undecided were the answer to getting in easier, people would have figured it out a long time ago.

Any waitlisted people get contacted yet??

the letter said we are supposed to hear some time soon after may 1st.

does anyone know how many people were waitlisted this year?

i got a phone call from admissions today, but i missed the call so i tried logging into the admitted students site and it worked! im going to UDel! good luck to everyone else on the waitlist!

My S is on the waitlist. We didn’t get a call, but I went to the Admitted students site with my S’s id, and got in! He is accepted!
For those that also want to look, just Google ‘University of Delaware’, click on ‘Admissions’. Once on the page, choose ‘Admitted Students’, and enter your id/pwd. If you get in, your in!!
