Waitlistees... 4 days and counting

Wow... the suspense is killing me. Anyone recieved word?
Just 4 more days... and the next for years of our lives
will be set!

Not to set you on edge, but I was on the wait-list and found out. I got in. I received a phone call from a lady who said I was highly considered for admission, and she wanted to gauge my interest. I told her I would definitely go, and the next day she called back telling me that I got in. However, she also told me that they will be in committee until the end of the week, so you might find out on Tuesday, because they might decide on Friday afternoon.

nstync567, when did you find out? congrats on being accepted! which Georgetown school did you apply to?

I received the initial phone call gauging my interest on Tuesday, and I found out by phone from that same lady on Wednesday. Supposedly, my official acceptance to the School of Foreign Services is due in the mail tomorow or Saturday.

A guy from the admissions office called me this morning and said that they were considering me. I hope they decide to accept me cause I really want to go to Georgetown. I applied to the college. He said that I could check my status Monday.

A friend of mine who was waitlisted at Gtown found out she got in two days ago. We're so excited for her! :) Good luck, everyone. Pride of the CCers. Woohoo!

Only the people being considered receive calls, right?

that is what happened with me at Emory, i got a call trying to "gauge" my interest. I said yes, I was still interested. The next day, I was admitted.

Did you send them any letters or correspondence prior to that?

Accepted!! finally. I was deferred in December, and then waitlisted. I finally got an acceptance letter from GT.

fakldjfs.....Congrats! What a roller coaster ride of emotions! Hope to see you there! Where are you from?

wow, that is some harsh waiting time. Congrats on getting in! See you on the hilltop.

I got a letter in the mail saying that I've been put on a SECOND wait list now and won't find out till June 30 if I stay on.

I laughed.

I live in DC and am yet to receive anything...people near me though have received letters already

Well, I received my letter. Sadly, I wasn't accepted. It's ok because I'll be going to Cornell, and would have chosen it over GT. It just would have been nice to keep the number os rejections to a minimum.

Should I assume the worst if I haven't received anything yet. The only things I've sent we're a rec, an updated resume, and a letter stating that I would go if given the opportunity. I live literally 3 miles away, which is kind've odd considering that I haven't received any correspondence. Any thoughts?

I got a letter saying that nobody was accepted from the waitlist...???

I too was placed on the "extended" waiting list (SFS). I did however find Georgetown's prose very awkward and verbose - it took my own reading as well as my parents a few times before really understanding it, and even now I am still confused. It also says spots will open up through the attrition of already accepted and going students.

I understand that some individuals have been accepted off the waitlist; have they received formal letters? The letter I received does not mention not taking anyone off the waitlist, yet says that "the committee was able to consider only a few candidates from the waitlist this year." I was thinking that Georgetown wouldn't make the same mistake twice of not going to their waitlist. Any thoughts?

Interesting - on the letter it said for the college "none were taken from the waitlist". Either GTown or some of you are lying if you applied to the college and got in. What gives?

I also got a letter saying that no one got off the waitlist. I was, however, encouraged to apply as a transfer next year (yeah, right).
Nevermind--got accepted to my first choice anyway, McGill. And also a few full rides elsewhere.
Only wanted Georgetown for one particular program and that program is offered elsewhere.
