Well. I phoned the admissions office this morning, and theres good news and bad news. The good news is that they're resorting to the waitlist. The bad news is that they're only taking 15-20 students. The e-mail referred to on a different thread is indeed correct. I also asked the number on the waitlist and she said "several hundred." Gosh. Reality just hit me. Less than 5% chance. We'll all know our fates within the next couple of weeks. Now is the time to be happy and content with where you're going. Good luck to all!

As I have said, the EA deferred admit rate is generally similar to the overall RD admit rate. "Admit rate" is not really a useful concept when it comes to the waitlist.

Byerly, you have said that the wait list is mostly used at Harvard to fill PARTICULAR gaps in the class (e.g., the oboe player for an orchestra) after acceptances of admission offers are known, right?

Great...if I didn't stay on the waitlist, I could've said "I got waitlisted at Harvard" and end it at that. Now...chances are the phrase will be longer and more sinister...

Just give me a damn decision already!! Ehhhh...Harvard's already made me wait...um...like...half a friggin year after my deferral. I can't be satisfied with the school that I'm going to until they give me a frigggggggin decision.
