This thread is for all of the people that have been waitlisted.

What have you done to strenghten your chances of getting admitted off the waitlist?

Why do you want to attend the University of Chicago?

I’ll start

I’ve called my admissions counselor and Theodore O’niel a couple of times. About 2 weeks ago I started writing a letter to admissions counselor to plead my case. Hopefully I’ll finish the letter by next weekend. I’m also planning on sending 3 more teacher recs.

First and foremost, I really want to be near Fermilab and Argonne Lab. I like the departments of physics and math because of their focus on theory. I like how U of C has no engineering departments to overshadow the theoretical work done by the math and physics departments. Besides that, I like the quick paced quarter system. I think it’s what I’ve needed for the past 4 years. At my current school I’ve always get bored by the stagnant pace of the classes, and as a result my grades would suffer. I don’t think I’ll have that problem at U of C.

Well that’s about it for me.

PS- I anyone has any further advise for us waitlistees please feel free to post, we need help!!!
