Waitlisters Unite!

Who here is on the waitlist?

I am, and I’m actually pleasantly surprised

Me!

Today has been a really bad day. Rejected from HYP, waitlisted at Brown.

And now we get to wait some more.

I got w/l’d as well. What are you guys going to do in an attempt to be admitted?

Yup.

I’m happy, since it is Brown, but I’m still in some serious anguish.
Rejected at Stanford and Yale, and waitlisted at Pomona College and U of Chicago.
I’m definitely signing up for Brown and Pomona’s waiting list.

Looks like I’ll be sending in my SIR to UC Berkeley for now, and I will pray I get chosen off this waiting list!

How’s everyone else doing?

Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Amherst, MIT
Waitlist: Chicago, Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn
Accepted: Cornell, W+L, Pomona, Williams, Swat, Northwestern, Emory, Davidson

Gotta love those fee waivers, eh?

Wow, I feel like such an underachiever having only applied to 8 schools…what’s wrong with me??!

Accepted: St. John’s College (the great books school, if you’ve heard of it), Middlebury
Waitlisted: Amherst, Brown
Denied: Princeton, Columbia
Still waiting on: Swarthmore, Georgetown

I know Swat and G’town have notified, but as I’m on vacation and they only send mail, I won’t find out until I get home tomorrow. I was disappointed by the reject from Columbia (it WAS my top choice, now I’m getting psyched about Midd) but pleasantly surprised by the waitlist from Brown. The reject from Princeton was neither surprising nor disappointing.

Hello, fellow waitlistees! (is that a word?) I am actually very happy. I was totally expecting a rejection, but it feels good to know that my dream school didn’t reject me. Plus, the acceptance rate plummeted (yet again), so we should be proud that we were even close, and some of us will eventually make it into Brown 2014. I’m definitely signing up to stay on the waitlist. Good luck everyone!!

Waitlisted!
I was ecstatic!! Among 30,000 applicants, we are still near the top! Wow!

For me:
Rejected: Wesleyan (Not sure how that happened…)
Waitlisted: Brown, Swarthmore, Middlebury, Pitzer
Accepted: Colgate, Occidental, BC, U of MN Twin Cities

Waitlisted.

Rejected: Harvard
Waitlisted: Hopkins, Brown, UPenn
Accepted: UMD, UMBC

Waitlisted.

Waitlisted: Brown, John Hopkins, Vanderbilt
Rejected: Stanford, Yale
Accepted: Emory, UGA Honors

I was waitlisted. I am excited about it…but honestly, couldn’t they have just admitted a few more? Haha.

Waitlisted: Brown and Yale.
Rejected: none. :]
Accepted: Amherst, Notre Dame, Rochester, St. Olaf, and U of MN.

I am probably going to Notre Dame…unless I get a call from either yale or brown. Haha.

I was waitlisted, which is simultaneously disheartening and exciting. I was expecting a rejection, so I’m ecstatic, but at the same time, though an outright rejection would have crushed my hopes and dreams, at least there would have been closure.

Brown has been my absolute first choice for some time, and I’m hopeful but not particularly optimistic about my chances of making it in. While I wait, I guess I’ll probably be accepting a spot at UVa.

Best of luck to everyone!

Any idea how many people, on an average are a. on the waitlist and b. get off it?

I read somewhere that about 1400 are waitlisted and about 500 accept a spot on the waitlist. According to their website, somewhere around a “handful” to over fifty get off the waitlist. It varies each year.

So, I’m guessing that everyone posting here is going to stay on the waitlist?

I sure am.

Accepted: Emory, Georgia Tech, UGA, Vandy
Waitlisted: Brown, Harvard, Yale, Duke
Rejected: Columbia, Cornell

I’m most definately staying on the waiting list.

I’m staying on it too! I was so happy to get on at all - I was 99% positive I would get rejected from all of my top schools, especially Brown.

I checked the common data set for last year:
Waitlisted: 1400
Accepted a spot: 450
Admitted: 68

Not great odds, but it could be worse!

For me:
Accepted: Pitt, Gettysburg, Johns Hopkins
Waitlisted: Brown, Penn, Middlebury
Rejected: Princeton, Yale, Duke

I will be putting my deposit in at Pitt, and then waiting to see what happens with Brown and Penn. (I’m not staying on Middlebury’s waitlist).

^ Waitlisted but not accepting at Midd, too!

Okay, anyone here got an invite to a Brown Alumni’s house to “celebrate”? I got a mail from the director of Intn’l admission asking me to do so, and I’m curious because I’ve never read about something like this happening before.

Question for my fellow waitlistees: When should we start mailing additional info? Is it still too early, or should we do it sometime soon?

BTW, my decisions:
Rejected: Georgetown, Pomona
Waitlisted: Duke (not staying on waitlist), Brown
Accepted: BC Honors, Carnegie Mellon, Hopkins, Tufts (will send deposit to Tufts)
