Does anybody know if NU waitlists ED applicants in order to see more test scores or midyear grades, etc? It seems kind of harsh, since the decision is binding, but I guess my parents heard of somebody who was waitlisted RD at another school and they wanted to know! Thanks :-)

No, no school waitlists for ED. They can defer you to see if you get better results which means that your decision is postponed until they see you as compared to the applicants in the regular decision pool. As for wait-listing, it's only regular decision.

NU does not defer for ED. It's a hit or miss thing at Northwestern.

NU doesn't defer to Regular decision. This is a one shot deal. either you make it ED or not at all.
