I've been unfortunately waitlisted at four schools. Four! And all the ones I really want to go to too... Ah well.

I want to stay on the waitlist for two of the schools and hope I make it in. But how is the financial aid situation with those on waitlists? Are students accepted from the waitlist given smaller packages than those admitted regularly? Are they given financial aid packages at all?! I'm really hoping that's not the case...

It depends on the schools policy and how funds are distributed. I wouldn’t worry so much about a school that you have been waitlisted, it is best for you to move on with your current options. Though if you do accept being on the waitlist, do not countinue to linger on waitlist schools though if you happen to be admitted ( which most often is not the case) you can re-think of the school being an option.

You have to remember that aid may have been exhausted by the time W/L comes around. Also some schools look at the waitlist and select students based on their ability to pay. Absolutely ,you need to concentrate on what you have as Coolbrezze says. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. If your w/l does not come through, you have your choice locked in. If it comes through, be prepared that FA may not very good.

If you need a lot of aid, the waitlist is usually not a good place to be. However, if you are a full paying customer or even an almost full paying customer, you should let them know you are prepared to enroll.
