If I am waitlisted to a school I applied to as a first-year, would it be easier to get in as a transfer student?

A student who is waitlisted as a freshman applicant is within the “we could accept that person range” at that time. Whether they would fall into the “we are delighted to accept you now” category as a transfer is not predictable. Students change. Transfer admissions is not the same as freshman admissions.
